15 weeks and still exhausted!?

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal to still feel absolutely exhausted by 5pm every evening!? I'm waiting for the "2nd trimester energy" to hit me but so far I only feel about 20% better than I did in the 1st

Sickness and things have completely gone but I can shake the sleepiness.

Any advice would be appreciated XX

Hey I'm week 14 and still feeling tired and still sick sometimes. I think it just depends person to person and even pregnancy to pregnancy. I'm hanging in for when I start to feel 'glowing' and when I want to eat normally again!!

Garman · 14/06/2021 19:49

I'm 20 weeks with dc3 and still exhausted all the time, I was never this bad before. Still need a nap most days, not helped by the terrible broken sleep each night.

RachShad · 14/06/2021 20:07

My tiredness was so extreme until around 18 weeks, then I started to feel my energy come back. But then it got to around 33 weeks and tiredness reappeared. I'm 35+4 now and exhausted!! I think everyone is just different though. I had bad sickness until around 20 weeks, everyone told me by 14 weeks it would go but it never did, I was waiting and waiting for the day it went and it just took ages!!

Could you be anaemic? maybe ask the doctor for a blood test….

Babyno1x · 14/06/2021 20:16

Thanks for your comments! It's nice to know others are in the same boat after my friends and and family keep asking "do you have your energy back yet!?"

Also do any of you know if you get tested for low iron on your 12 week blood test when they test for Down Syndrome etc? I am also suffering with night time headaches which I know is a symptom of anemia but not sure if it's just related to being tired! X

@Suzi888 I just read this online!!! I am also getting headaches which I've seen is a symptom on Anaemia, do you know if they test for this at your 12 week scan? When you get tested for the diseases etc. Or do I have to request a separate blood test? Xx

Hmmm I’m sorry OP I can’t remember what they test for altogether.
Give your G.P or midwife a call and they’ll let you know. Or someone else on here might Smile good luck! hope you feel better very soon.
No harm in increasing your uptake of leafy greens in the meantime!

I'm 20 weeks and still shattered Grin

I felt exactly the same as you at 15 weeks but I gradually started to feel more like my normal self around 17 weeks and it's just got better from there (now 20 weeks).

In regards to anaemia, if you had it, you would know because it makes you very unwell. I have had it and I couldn't even stand up without almost passing out. Other symptoms are heart palpitations, hair loss, skin goes almost grey, nails break. I had it from excessive bleeding from having a coil plus I'm vegetarian. If you follow a balanced diet you shouldnt be anaemic.

You should have had your iron tested at your booking appointment anyway so call your midwife to check, but they'd have told you if you were low or borderline.

I had really bad headaches for a couple of weeks around 15/16 weeks. Just drink as much water as you can earlier in the day and paracetamol is safe to take.
Hope you feel better soon

This is my first, I’m 17 weeks and feel absolutely fucked. I’ve heard so much about the 2nd trimester being the easiest of 3 with more energy and pregnancy glow. I vomit minimum of 3 times daily, my pelvic area all hurts so much I shuffle around and now I have a UTI ! I think some peoples bodies just take well to pregnancy and others not so much !

pinkcattydude · 14/06/2021 21:40

I swear I was exhausted from the moment I POAS to the moment I had him. Thank goodness he was a good sleeper,

@Florarenniemackintosh @Garman @RachShad

Yes, they do a full blood count with your 12 week booking bloods

If you had low iron, it would have been flagged up then but your test results might be in your notes if you want to check

The results will give your level plus the normal range so you can see if you’re ok

Garman · 14/06/2021 22:01

I started taking Spatone because here they don't give you your 12 week blood results until your next hospital appointment nearly 3 months later which is ridiculous. So I thought a likely cause of my headaches and tiredness might be low iron, and it did help my headaches a lot. Still tired though!

NavaniKholinRocks · 14/06/2021 22:19

Definitely have a chat with your midwife/GP. I was extremely tired from about 4 weeks on. Had a full blood test and it turned out I had an underactive thyroid. Didn’t have any idea before, but reading through the list of symptoms a lot seemed familiar. So whether it’s that or something else, it’s worth getting checked out.

londonjojo · 14/06/2021 22:25

I was absolutely exhausted until about 17 weeks when my energy came back really quickly. I'm now 19 weeks and feel almost like I did pre pregnancy. Hang in there, hopefully you'll feel much better in a week or 2.

Clo00 · 15/06/2021 01:32

I'm 21 weeks and still exhausted😟
