Hi all

Sorry in advance if I have posted in the wrong place, I have a nearly 4 month old boy, with all the time it took ttc him i wanted to ttc another baby but i havent got my periods back yet as im ebf, I am going to try cow and gate milk as he doesnt like sma, i go back to work September and want him to be on bottle by then, how many feeds do I drop a day do you think starting now? I also need to bottle feed in night as I read its the bf at night that delays periods, this is all new to me and so confusing! Thanks for any advice x

Hi, I'm not sure about the period thing as it does vary for people how sensitive they are. I don't get mine until fully weaned at 12m but I know others whose returned much earlier. I'm terms of what to drop, I'd suggest you pick a feed of the day where you're offering a bottle then just offer bf next time baby is hungry - you'll soon get a feel for how long this is . Do the same feed and wait the next day and you've essentially introduced your first bottle time. An easy one is probably the first one of the day. You don't want to drop more than one feed every 2-5 days if you can avoid it - you'll know from how engorged you are if you're going too quickly. You can always express if it is painful but of course that delays boobs readjusting to reduced demand.
Good luck op. Hope your ttc is swift and successful 🤗

If he's taking a bottle, I'd start switching over now. It's generally advised to switch one feed per two weeks and it's the feeds between midnight and 6am that affect your fertility.

Your fertility also comes back before your AF so there's no harm in DTD now.

With you wanting to TTC I'd perhaps swap a feed at roughly 3am, if he's already waking at that time, for formula and take it in turns to give that feed so that you get the bonus of some sleep Smile
