Cholestasis

Anyone able to share their experience with cholestasis?

I’m 34 weeks 5 days.

Basically I had itchy feet 11 weeks ago and they tested me for cholestasis and it was negative. I went to triage last night with potential preeclampsia to be told that actually it’s no preeclampsia but cholestasis. My liver function was 240 and bile acid 21. Ive been given 750mg of ursodeoxycholic to take daily and I’m booked in for liver ultrasound and more bloods etc later this week.

Possible induction has been vaguely mentioned... when might this be (weeks wise of pregnancy)? I’ll get the chance to ask my consultant these questions of course this week but thought I’d try to find out some similar experiences :)

I had my induction at 38 and a half weeks. I was told that once you are having extra monitoring (with baby's movements regularly checked and regular blood tests) outcomes were pretty identical to people who don't have cholestasis. This was almost 8 years ago though, so I don't know if the advice is still the same.

I hope you aren't too horrendously itchy Flowers Eurax, pine tar soap and cooling baths are your best friends if you are finding it tortuous though.

I’ve got cholestatis and I’m currently at 34 + 5. Had an appointment with consultant today...my bile salt levels are raised at 23 and ALT levels (liver function) are crazy high at 690!! Yet she said unless the bile salt levels go above 100, I won’t be getting induced and will be expected to go full 40 weeks Sad Little bit worried about it tbh given what I’ve read about everyone else being induced, but I guess they will have the most up to date medical knowledge as to what’s appropriate (you would hope anyway)!

Forgot to add, they haven’t prescribed me anything for it and I thought it was standard to be given ursodeoxycholic. I’m also booked in for a liver scan but haven’t got a date yet.
