Becks Blue in pregnancy?

I'm 5 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy.
I would not drink booze, inc low alcohol stuff, but I like non-alcoholic beer, and am dreading several months without them. Becks Blue (and most other non-alcoholic beers) are 0.05% rather than strictly zero. That's low enough to be allowed to market it at zero, and there's no warning on the bottles that you should not drink whilst pregnant.
I'm pretty risk averse about things generally, but even I think this is surely okay? Anyone any knowledge about this?

Perfectly safe.

BananasAboutBananas · 13/06/2021 22:31

It's fine.

Councilworker · 13/06/2021 22:34

0.05%ABV is less than orange juice which is 0.5%ABV.
. You're only unreasonable in that Beck's Blue is the worst of the alcohol free beers. There's quite a few nicer ones out there now.

DigitalGhost · 13/06/2021 22:35

The Heineken one is far nicer. Brewdog too

MiniMaxi · 13/06/2021 22:37

Totally fine - but there are 0.0% options if you prefer. Bitburger Drive is quite good.

LewishamMum · 13/06/2021 22:37

@Councilworker
That's nice to know. Love orange juice normally, but can't stand the stuff whilst pregnant.
I know Becks Blue isn't the best, I've recently got into St Peters Without but it's a bit marmitey. It was more a general qu as they seem to all be 0.05%.
Wasn't on the AIBU page, but nice to know it makes its way into everything :)

@MiniMaxi
I'm a bit of a worrier and I'd prefer that even if the only benefit is my peace of mind x

I drank Beck’s Blue when I was pg. It tastes ok, but I still got a sort of chemically headache from it. There are much nicer alcohol free beers.

DennisTMenace · 13/06/2021 22:42

Agree with @Councilworker, becks blue is grim. Heineken, free dam, lidl and aldi own brand larger are the best of the cheaper ones I find. I can't drink alcohol for medical reasons, so I would know if there was alcohol in them. Even the 0.5% ones you would have to drink 3-4 pints of it to have a unit of alcohol. So don't worry about it for pregnancy.

MiniMaxi · 13/06/2021 22:43

Bear in mind you’d have to drink ten of them to equal one bottle of 0.5% AF beer... and 100 Beck’s blue equivalent to one actual 5% lager!!

But if you look around there are quite a few 0.0, I think Heineken does one too. Have a look at the Alcohol Free shop online they have loads of stuff (or at least did last time I looked)

AgnesNaismith · 13/06/2021 22:44

Yes it’s fine! Try the dry drinker boxes then you can try a range. I’ve never found a good alcohol free white wine though Hmm

Martini do a great alcohol free botanical orangey kind of aperitif which is nice when used like aperol.

RedSoloCup · 13/06/2021 22:56

They are better with a lemonade top that's my tip, a bit dehydrating otherwise, perfectly fine when pg though

Newchances · 13/06/2021 23:00

Birra morreti do 0.0 and peroni, both nice and alcohol free as far as I know

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 13/06/2021 23:15

I drank it when pregnant. Not constantly but when we had nights out. DD is a happy, healthy 8yo now.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 13/06/2021 23:17

To add though only that and bitburger were available then. The brew dog ones are a million miles nicer.

Kirky658 · 14/06/2021 20:38

I was worrying and asked my midwife. She said I'd have to drink 100 becks blue beers to have the equivalent of an actual ppint. I treat myself to 0.5% Brewdog Punk AF or Nanny State every now and again too which is lovely. X
