Covid vaccine after c-section

Has anyone had either their first or second dose just after a c-section? I’ve tried searching for advice online about whether it’s better to wait until a few weeks after the section but can’t find anything. My GP hasn’t responded to my request for advice but will chase this up. Curious to hear if anyone has been given advice on this?

Hi OP, my midwife at last appt suggested waiting for 6 weeks after to give your body time to recover but said if I felt ok after 4 weeks then that would be ok too. Think it’s just to give you time to recover a bit before potentially having side effects from the vaccine.

Thanks @TheGlitterFairy That’s what I was thinking, to wait at least a few weeks. Just trying to work out my timings for getting both doses booked in. I’m guessing not that many have been in this position yet so no official advice exists as far as I’m aware. My other concern was about the risk of blood clots increasing due to a combination of the risk of blood clots after a c-section anyway, and the vaccine combined (although I will be getting the Pfizer) did your midwife mention this?

Hi OP, I got my first covid vaccination 5 weeks after my c section and didn't have any after effects 😊 I hadn't even thought of the potential increased risks of blood clotting etc would be interesting to find out.

@2021expecting Glad to hear you had no side effects and congratulations on your birth Smile Did you have the AZ or Pfizer?

@Persis101 I’d not thought about the additional clotting either nor which one would be best to have post birth so good points to ask about - thanks 🙏

@2021expecting good to hear you didn’t have side effects and all ok!
