Anyone expecting twins/multiples Nov/Dec?

Hi
I thought I'd set up a thread for anyone in the same weird and wonderful boat?
I didn't realise there were so many variations to a multiple pregnancy!

Just to give some background on our situation. We have been through years of IVF and losses including one late loss. I have incompetent cervix so when we have embryos transferred we only transfer one embryo.

To our surprise the embryo we transferred split and we were carrying triplets! However we lost baby 3 at 9 weeks, it was very sad. Though has reduced my anxiety around the pregnancy and my cervix coping.

Twins are MCDA and we are nearly 12 weeks. Tiredness is unreal! Struggling to squeeze into clothes already.

Would be great to connect with other mums to be in a similar situation. Daffodil

Hi
I’m in a similar situation. But due in October. Also IVF but also only transferred one embryo which split. I’m 20 weeks and having identical boys. I’ve also had previous losses, if this pregnancy goes the distance they will be my first live births.
I’m sorry to hear you lost one of your triplets, how are you feeling in yourself? I’m still having my arse kicked by nausea and vomiting.

All my clothes are too big. When I started needing bump room I looked online and was advised that rather than buying maternity clothes in my size I should upsize by 1-2 sizes due to the fact we’ll have bigger bumps. Which I did. So I no longer fit in my regular clothes but my maternity clothes are hanging off me. It’s a challenge to keep my trousers up! I doubt it will be a problem for long though, in the last week I’ve sort of popped a bit more and I feel bigger every day.

Good luck with your pregnancy x

Hey, I'm due twins in December. Not down to IVF just pure old fashioned (bad?) Luck?

Crazydoglady123 · 11/06/2021 17:48

Hey, I'm due 4th Jan with IVF twins! Ours were from having two embryos transferred. Currently 7+5 and soooo tired. This is my second pregnancy (DS is 9yo)

Madeoftea · 11/06/2021 18:59

Hi! I'm almost 9 weeks with twins (not IVF). Due date was mid Jan so will probably be around Christmas time!

Congrats to you all!!

@K10f1 . So sorry to hear of your losses. Pregnancy after loss is not easy. . Sure your shock was as much as ours to have multiples after only one embryo transfer!

I have had lots of nausea it comes and goes. Luckily no sickness. Find meal planning a complete chore as I cannot decide what I want and if I think too much about certain foods I want to heave. Fortunately I am working from home at the moment so I can have naps in my lunch break, otherwise I don't know how I'd survive. The tiredness is tough! Interesting point about maternity clothes as I planned to just buy my regular size but of course it makes sense to size up given how big we are likely to get!! Although I have a bump already I don't think I've quite come to terms with how much bigger I'll get yet.

It was naturally sad losing the triplet but I was having huge anxiety about carrying 3 given my history. Baby 3 was in its own sac so it had no impact on the other two and I didn't even have a bleed.

@Crazydoglady123 7 weeks was when I felt my tiredness really kick in! Hope you are able to take lots of rest!

@Madeoftea @IndigoJam Congrats to you both! Sure you'll get lots of questions over whether they are natural pregnancies or not (like that's anyone's business!) I have a work colleague who was constantly asked that with her twin pregnancy!

Christmas is likely to be very different for us all this year! Star

@tvdinners43 I couldn't have written that better myself about the nausea making meal planning a nightmare! I've had to cancel my Gousto deliveries as when the food comes looking at the instructions makes me feel so queasy. I seem to get it worse in the afternoon/evenings but thankfully not been sick. I have a massive aversion to cream/milk based products. I really fancied a creamy chicken, bacon and mushroom tagliatelle last night and the taste of the cream after eating made me feel so sick all night 🤢 Sorry about the loss of your third. I'm also starting to get a bump but they say you show earlier with your second pregnancy anyway.

@Madeoftea good to see you over here!

tvdinners43 · 11/06/2021 20:46

@Crazydoglady123 so funny you mentioned the Gousto meals! I have a £30 credit for them and keep going onto the app and then the thought of choosing a meal ahead gives me the worst sickness! It's madness isn't it?

Does anyone know if the guidance around stopping folic acid at 12 weeks is the same for a twin pregnancy? X

@tvdinners43 yes! Scrolling through all the foods to choose from is the worst! I have found when I'm feeling nauseous that sucking on a lemon sherbet helps a bit.

Not sure your answer for stopping folic acid but how much are you taking? My midwife appointment isn't until 11 weeks but I read to take 1000mcg but I'm actually taking 3 x 400mcg as couldn't find the correct dose amd they're too small to break in half
