Ive heard that the pfizer jab is recommended for pregnant ladies - i called my GP to ask about that and they said they couldn't help with booking the jab. If anyone managed to specifically request the pfizer jab how did you go about doing it?

Thanks!

Hi @mowglika, I am 16 weeks and just been offered the jab, I am still undecided to have it, I asked the Midwife for advice but she did not want to comment and just gave me a leaflet to read, wondering whether you have had a different experience?

If I do go ahead with the jab I wanted to do the same thing abs have the Pfizer jab, I was going to ring my local vaccination sites and just ask them what jabs they have in stock before booking anything.

How old are you? If you're under 40, you'll only be able to book appointments at places which have Pfizer or Moderna anyway.

Moderna is also ok for pregnant women and is what I had.

Im 42 so will be offered the AZ I think unless I can find out where pfizer is being offered! I haven't had a booking in appt or heard from midwives yet

The NHS website will only show you clinics for the vaccines you can have. So you shouldn't be offered AZ in this case, only Pfizer or Moderna, as you are pregnant.

They won’t give you the AZ as your pregnant.

When I booked a while ago there was still no pregnant button. Not sure if that’s on there now.

Given the age groups they’re vaccinating now I would imagine they’ll have Pfizer or moderna x

Where are you OP? Over 40s have been done in most places now haven't they, it was definitely my GP that contacted me to get me booked onto a clinic when my age group came round (they hadn't noticed I was pregnant before they called so we had to do a double check but all ok).

How pregnant are you, too? In my area your GP has to refer you to midwifery service for them to book you but in other areas you can self refer.
