I'm 37 + 4 today and I've noticed baby is moving but not going quite as crazy as usual. Usually when I lay down the the evening I get all the rolling limbs and distortion of my tummy but it been less this evening. I can feel baby move still but mostly small nudges. Could this mean babies head is fully engaged? I did take a very long walk yesterday which could've done it and then was very crampy and sore yesterday evening (this is my second baby).

I'm keeping an eye as I know how important it is to go to hospital if movements are reduced but since I have still felt movement I'm not sure if it's just because of babies position?

The advice is to get checked if there’s any change to the normal pattern of movement. Don’t wait - call them now

Moonshine11 · 10/06/2021 22:00

Call ASAP op
Any change you ring

Embracelife · 10/06/2021 22:00

RisingSunn · 10/06/2021 22:13

Pls call the midwives as there is a change of pattern.

welldonesquirrel · 10/06/2021 22:52

same as above, pls get checked out, best to be safe and u won't be bothering anyone

Gembie · 10/06/2021 23:02

It’s a myth that babies movements slow down towards the end of pregnancy/when the head it engaged etc.

Please get checked ASAP

Iggi999 · 10/06/2021 23:04

It's change in movement that needs to be checked not just no movement - hope you are off getting some reassurance now.

ElderMillennial · 10/06/2021 23:18

As PPs say, if you notice a reduction in movements then you should call the MAC.

nocoolnamesleft · 10/06/2021 23:20

Please call labour ward and get checked out. Not worth taking any chances.

featheredcloud68 · 10/06/2021 23:25

I rang shortly after posting this, the lady told me to lay on my left side have a big drink which I did and started to feel more movement from baby. He isn't going wild but he is moving consistently so I feel more reassured now.

Will still keep an eye on how his movements are tomorrow and ring again if need be

I can’t believe they still give that advice. It’s outdated and wrong. Chances are it’s fine, but for the very small percentage of babies for whom it’s not fine this is an emergency and the only way to find out what is happening is monitoring. Call them back.

Greenmarmalade · 10/06/2021 23:56

No, ring back and go in to get monitored. Insist.

quince2figs · 10/06/2021 23:57

Agree- please, please ring back or go straight in. You need a fetal heart monitoring now; whilst you are asleep tonight you can’t keep an eye on movements.
You are not bothering anyone by attending - it’s our job - I’m an ex-obstetric consultant.
