Rhesus blood test

I had my blood tests done at my booking appointment a couple of weeks ago and found out I’m rhesus negative. The hospital I’m at offers the rhd screening test, which by my understanding uses the same technology as the NIPT test and analyses the baby’s DNA in my blood.

Has anyone else had this? I’ll be able to get it at my 16 week appointment and will definitely get it, but just wondering whether they also test for Downs Syndrome and the other genetic conditions that the NIPT looks at, or can tell us the gender? Or if it’s on the NHS do they only look for the blood group specifically?

Thank you!

They only look at blood group

It will be specific to the blood group due to cost.

In Ireland but yes in general think it's the blood group. Just to say I know you know this already but say and remind constantly at every hospital/doctors appointment and on the day that you're negative . Really important. Congratulations and best of luck OP!

I’ve had this with both of my pregnancies and they’ve only ever looked at foetal blood group specifically on NHS.

Thanks all! I had a feeling this would be the case so was very optimistic thinking that they’d look at the other stuff as well!
