Bump doesn’t feel like a bump anymore?! Help?

Hi there,

I’m 16 weeks today and I’ve had a small bump for a few weeks. It definitely looks like a bump when standing, sometimes when sitting as well.

Today I have woken up and my stomach is soft and squishy and I just look chubby. The shape of the bump has disappeared and the tightness of the skin is no longer there.

I’m freaking out. I have had quite bad anxiety this whole time due to having a miscarriage a few years ago (I didn’t know I was pregnant and there was no blood or pain or anything. I literally went to the loo one night and the sac was sitting in my pants).

I know MMC are extremely rare at this stage but I’m so worried right now.

Any advice?

Awww OP, I'd try not to worry too much, at 16 weeks your bump and body will still be changing and it's still a good few weeks away for you to have that typical tight baby bump. I didn't get it until 25-28 weeks and until then, the only time it was tight if I was bloated and (sorry tmi!!) not been to the loo!! If you are really worried, phone your midwife for reassurance but honestly, this feels quite normal to me. And definitely not trying to downplay your anxiety, I constantly questioned everything and was obsessed with growth etc. Thanks

The baby has probably just moved positions and changed the appearance/firmness of your stomach, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Give your midwife a ring. They're usually happy to check you over.

Your baby has probably moved. Mine has done this for months and even now in the third trimester he moves further back and my bump isn’t solid anymore and you can’t feel him kick near the surface

Thank you everyone, I woke up today with a bump again, so seemed to be worrying about nothing 😊

This happened to me loads around your stage. Baby moves and tucks itself into different positions and that causes a chnage in bump shape. It will probably happen again over next few weeks so try not to worry x
