I bought a doppler (Angel sounds) at 16 weeks and heard baby heartbeat then - very reassuring and you can get them off ebay for £30! The instructions say that you can use them from 12 weeks...

I think it we saw it beating on the 12wk dating scan. and then, i think, I heard it at each MW appointment since then. oh and including the 20wk anamoly scan.

Maybe it depends on whats available in your local area. (which is such an unfair system)

We heard ours when we were 12 wks at the scan.

Had a Missed MC before and heard that baby's heart at 7weeks. (dates were way out)

The new nice guidelines say for midwives not to offer before 18 weeks(i think) because before then it's not always possible to hear the heartbeat with a doppler and they aren't always accurate(has the same problem as CTG machines, because it's a representation of the heartbeat, not the actual heartbeat it can pick up maternal/placental pulse and double it)

8 weeks during an ultrasound was the first time. The 12 weeks x2 once with the ultrasound and once with the doppler and now I will hear it at every appointment I think ... and I have a 19 week scan planned already. I think that it is more important for my DH than me. It really brings it home that there is a little person just waiting for the right time to come out and meet him!

I am pregnant with my second, to be honest, I can't remember what week I heard the heartbeat with my first baby but this time, I heard it at 14 weeks, my midwife said that it was just on the cusp and we may not be able to hear it but it was clear as a bell!!

kelbel · 20/11/2007 09:33

hi we saw it at very early scans due to bleeding, but didn't actually hear with machine at midwife until 24, apparantly that was normal in my area

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/11/2007 09:36

I think I heard ds heartbeat with a doppler at about 16 weeks.

Apparantly the new guidelines are that the mw's do not check the hb, unless the mother requests it. So if you want to hear the hb you have to ask the mw.

8 weeks at first scan, then again at 12 week scan & every time I go to the midwife (am expecting DC2 in April).

7 weeks at a scan.
