Stretch marks

Hello all,

Another day another Q!!

I've got to week 35 without any stretch marks and have suddenly woke up to some on the lower side of my stomach this morning. I've been moisturising daily which I thought was working. Is there anything else you'd recommend I can do to keep the stretch marks to a minimum at this point? Maybe it's out of my control now but thought I'd ask if anyone has any insights. Could wearing a pregnancy belt help?

Thanks so much x

Hey, I don’t think there’s anything that actually works and if you’re going to get them then you will. Definitely keep moisturising though because if your skin is dry then it’ll be more likely to suffer.
I only had stretch marks on my boobs when I was pregnant with my son but this time I’ve got them everywhere, but I’ve decided that they’re not terrible things. My body has grown 2 babies and they won’t care what my stomach or legs look like, the human body is an amazing thing. Especially the female body!

Just embrace them, they fade over time.

If you're going to get them, you're going to get them, no amount of fancy potions and lotions will stop them and neither will a pregnancy belt.

The best things I ever read about stretch marks was "I'm a tiger, who's earned their stripes"

I used clarins stretch mark cream, I never got any other than on boobs but maybe I was just one of them who wasn’t going to get them.

Hate those things. I have them too. You're either prone to them or you're not so there's nothing you can do to stop them.
However, you can get them to look less horrible with moisturising. I use Bio-Oil. So when they appear, even when they're fresh, they're not so red and angry as they would be without any treatment. And they do fade.

I think women who say they moisturised and dind't get them (lucky them) can mislead you a bit because if they're just not prone to them, then they wouldn't get them either way. My mum never moisturised when she was pregnant with me and she didn't have any. She also put on a lot of weight when I was in my late teens and again, no stretch marks anywhere. Me - if I put on half a kilo, one shows somewhere. It's a lottery with that one.

There is no product you can buy that can stop them/make them go away. It’s just part of pregnancy for some women.

Oh no! I presumed I’d got away with it at 31 weeks but if you’re still having them appear now there’s time yet 🙈 I put bio oil on my bump and sides every night and usually put moisturiser on during the day. I hadn’t been doing the top of my legs with the bio oil and just noticed this week I have them there 😭 so I think the bio oil is maybe helping.. now bio oiling my whole body 🤣
