Hi,
5 weeks 2 days pregnant today. For a couple of days I've had an dull ache low on my right hand side. Feels similar to my ovulation pain but much less painful. It's not constant but fairly consistent and I'm just worrying.. Thinking it could be a cyst on my ovary maybe but can't know for sure and I'm quite anxious at the moment about something going wrong and I keep thinking ectopic 😞 I've only just referred to the maternity services and I don't think they do scans to check this early or without bleeding and/or cramping. Has anyone had similar and all fine? Tia

Hiya, I'm currently 6+2 and I've had the same sort of dull right hand ache that you're describing, along with some general cramping. I've had it since I found out at about 4 weeks and it was really bothering me around when I hit 5 weeks, I was also really worried about ectopic. I'm lucky to live closeish to a walk in EPU so I went in last week at 5+2 and they scanned me and were able to tell me that the sac was in the uterus in the right place and rule out ectopic. Of course it's too early to know whether the pregnancy is viable, so I'm still anxious at every ache and pain (I think especially since I lost my last pregnancy), and I'm getting scanned again in a week's time, but it did really ease my anxiety of having an ectopic!

It's probably fine and could be down to a number of things

  • implantation, stretching/growing pains, corpus luteum cyst... however if you are really feeling anxious know that they CAN do scans this early and can at least rule out ectopic at this stage, so you can absolutely push for a scan to put your mind at ease! xx

@lavenderlilaclily thank you so much, that is reassuring ❤️ good to know that they will scan as well, I didn't think they would without bleeding or intense cramps. Wishing you well for the rest of your pregnancy 😊

If it's along where your knicker line is I'd say it's very likely to be round ligament pain (stretching pains). Some people say 5 weeks is too early for it but not in my experience.
