D&C 3 weeks ago

Hello,

I had a missed miscarriage and had d&c 3 weeks ago on Tuesday. Me and my partner started trying 3 days after this due to not much bleeding etc. I took a test today which shows up straight away as a very strong positive and I’ve been having a little brown gooey/stringy discharge. Would anyone know what this may be? Could i be pregnant again or could this be left over tissue?! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you had a negative test yet? I was still testing + for weeks after.

No, had a really strong positive yesterday, which I thought it would be slightly faint if my levels were going down! X

It’s hard to tell them. Maybe give EPU a call. They can test for you and see what level you’re looking at.

Have you had a period yet from the procedure? I had to wait over 2 weeks from my procedure until pregnancy tests came back negative, as they say the hormones don't go straight away! Sorry for your loss OP and I hope this is a good news story

No, I’ve not had my period yet. I had my procedure done 3 weeks ago now, but we did start trying really quickly afterwards so I’m not sure if they would have affected anything! 😞 I think my best option is to get blood test done to see if my levels are dropping. Just wasn’t sure why I was getting this weird discharge but I guess it could be little bits left from surgery. Thank you, I’m really sorry to hear you have also been through this xx

@ChelseiSC yes get a blood test, I have heard people get pregnant straight away again as they are super fertile I got pregnant 3 months after mine and happy to report that I'm now 33 weeks pregnant with twins, so there is light at the end of the tunnel, I hope your one of the ones whose got pregnant again straight away 🤞🏻🤞🏻

You need to get 48 bloods done to determine if this is a new pregnancy.

My story is: I had retained products (twice!) also my tests were getting darker turns out I wasn’t pregnant but my HCG was rising. My AF went missing for 4.5 months after my second surgical management and during that time I developed a severe infection in my left tube which presented as cramps and brown spotting/discharge.

It's most likely left over from your previous pregnancy.....after a D&C though you really should leave it more than 3 days to start trying again.....your uterus lining needs time to recover to be able to support a new pregnancy as it is a pretty invasive procedure s

Very sorry for your loss. I'm afraid to say that this very likely to be from your pregnancy. You should have a negative test within three weeks. I'd contact the epu as you may have retained tissue.

The reason we tried again so soon is because didn’t really bleed and was told we can try again whenever we felt ready to and as long as no bleeding. I’m not getting my hopes up that this is a new pregnancy, it’s more than likely left over from d&c and after hearing all your stories it seems that’s pretty much definitely the case. I had similar recently @ChelseiSC and turned out I still had retained products from the pregnancy. Once they went my pg tests went faint pretty quickly and now are negative. I would ring the EPU and they should scan you to check everything has gone.

I am sorry for your loss.
I got pg 1 week after a D&C for a mmc at 12 weeks. My period hadn’t returned and I ended up pg for basically a whole year!
Physically me and baby we’re fine but Psychologically it was very very hard. She’s 16 now though and it all turned out well.
So while you may not be pg again it’s certainly possible

@HoppinggreenI’m so pleased you got your happy ending but sorry to hear you went through what you did! I am booked in for a scan on Wednesday. I never really bled after my d&c! They asked on the phone whether it could be a new pregnancy but won’t get my hopes up. Thank you for messaging xx

I had a scan today and I’m back in for surgery tomorrow as not everything was removed! I’ve had no bleeding, no pain just some discharge! I was never told just discharge was a sign of stuff being left over so thought I’d let you all know ❤️
