Varicose veins - any experience?

Hi all

Currently 31+2 with my second DC and last week I noticed varicose veins on the inside of my thigh. They’re rather unsightly as you’d expect but yesterday they became rather painful, like a constant ache and the skin feels warm to the touch. As with everything I’ve been Googling (🤦‍♀️) and have scared myself about the risk of clots. I’m going to call the doctor first thing tomorrow and hopefully someone can take a look at them. Does anyone have any experience of them? Are they largely just an annoyance that goes away after birth? I didn’t experience the joy of them first time round.

I just got my first at the back of my leg and it’s a blueish bulge, not very pretty and looks like a bruise. Sorry can’t be of help, this is my first time getting them x

I got a big patch of them at the back of my left thigh with my 2nd, they've never gone but not caused any issues. Pretty ugly but they did improve a bit when I started weightlifting. Getting rid is classed as cosmetic procedure so I would have to pay for it so I've just left them alone for over a decade now.

I got a couple at the end of my 2nd pregnancy and they totally went once I gave birth.
I'm now 25 weeks with number 3 and suffering again but this time it makes my legs ache so badly that I've resorted to compression stockings. They've been a game changer and I can now be on my feet much longer, and no new ones have come up! Wish I'd done it earlier for preventative purposes x
