So I'm 39 years old and currently have a two-year-old boy who was conceived first time trying, I'm now looking to try for baby number 2 and all I've been seeing is negative stories about how hard it is and loads of stories about secondary infertility. This is making really paranoid. I know I haven't even tried yet as I've just come off my period and won't be starting for like another week but hearing all these negative stories is really disheartening Sad has anyone got any positive stories who are in their late 30s 40s who have had no problems conceiving with their second child?? Please share! Oh and how long did it take?

Hey, I am currently 36 weeks with DS2!

I conceived DS1 on the first month (he is 6 now but didn't feel "ready" until now - secretly still don't feel ready!!!)

Im 38, conceived when I was 37 and was equally as paranoid / worried! Got pregnant the 3 month of trying!

Good luck!

I thought exactly the same after reading all the threads. I got pregnant first time trying with my first aged nearly 36, he's now 3.5, and what do you know I just got pregnant with my second first time trying aged 40. Couldn't believe it. People just don't post the positive stories so you get a very skewed perception if you are reading about conception post-40 online I think.

Oh congratulations! This is great news! Oh wow and first time trying for both as well! I'm hoping this will be the case for me too but if not I just hope it won't take too long, worse case it won't happen at allSad but we'll see what happens. Can I just ask if you done anything to maybe help like use pressed or anything like that and how often did you do it during fertile window?

I'm 37 and 40 weeks pregnant. I've had 15+ years of being told it's ivf or nothing, along with my lovely DS who was the result of IVF 8 years ago.

I came off my pill in aug last year as it really wasn't agreeing with me and was pregnant in Sep. A complete surprise but of course a happy one.

I dtd once on ovulation day and once the day after. That was all! I used the OPK strips to know when I was ovulating.
