Just that really, I don't recognise my own feet and ankles at the moment!!! It is absolutely horrendous.

I've tried to raise then, drink gallons of water, walking, soaking them in cold water. .. and they only seem to get bigger by the hour!! I've run out of shoes to wear and now find myself permanently in flip-flops! Heat is definitely not helping things either! It feels like my fingers, toes and ankles are balloons blown up too tight!

Anyone else in the same boat!? You have my sympathies! Please join me for a moan (and any advice is greatly welcomed!!)

I'm just over 33 weeks and my feet look like trotters. Confused They don't feel like my own. I think this happened in my first pregnancy at this stage too sadly. The only good thing is that I can't see them most of the time. Grin

Please do get checked out if they are really swollen, it can be a sign of off pre-eclampsia

endofthelinefinally · 04/06/2021 18:21

Have you had your BP and urine tested? Is your face puffy? Swollen fingers can be a sign of pre-eclampsia so you should get checked.

CoffeeAndCaramel · 04/06/2021 18:22

Any sudden excessive swelling should be checked out OP as it could be a sign of pre eclampsia. While a bit of swelling at this stage in pregnancy is normal, yours sounds like it's a lot more, always best to get checked. Good luck x

@April88 thanks lovely, will do - had a midwife appointment today and blood pressure was all normal and as should be. Keeping a close eye but think it's just the heat and water retention 😫 horrible though!!

@endofthelinefinally thank you! Had all my checks this morning in my midwife appointment and all came back clear and normal - keeping an eye on it though Smile

@CoffeeAndCaramel thanks lovely! Had my midwife appointment today and all my checks came back normal. No face swelling and only slightly in fingers, mainly my feet and ankles! Think the heat has just set off the swelling unfortunately!

Have you tried going for a swim? I swelled up like a bullfrog 1st time round and swimming used to sort of redistribute the fluid for a few hours!

Inmypjsagain · 04/06/2021 18:32

Poor you, my feet are swollen and that’s bad enough! Can someone give you a foot and leg rub? I find it really nice and quite slimming- when one leg is done it looks so much slimmer than the other 😂

Shmerlock · 04/06/2021 18:34

@BadgertheBodger that's good to hear - I'm planning on a late evening swim later today!! A friend had said simular, so it's good to hear it's worked for others!! X

Eat cucumber and watermelon, they're good for reducing swelling.
