Hi everyone

I am so sorry for this - bit of an embarrassing - post.

I must ask, is anyone else taking Ferrous Sulfate (iron) tablets daily during rheir pregnancy and are you experiencing a bizarre change in the colour of your stool?

I have asked my midwife if I can stop taking it for a few days just to ensure that it is that because of course google gives all manner of diseases and issues. If I don't see a change in 2-3 days to my stool I will call my GP.

It's a common side effect of iron tablets - I wouldn't worry!

Completely normal! I have to take iron and my stools are anywhere between green and black.

Don't take this type of hard iron during pregnancy. Take something like floradix

Nurse here - completely normal to have dark stools on iron tablets

It's normal. I had exactly the same since I gave birth and had been put on iron tablets due to blood loss. Was worrying and was googling it and saw iron tablets was a cause. Everything went back to normal a few days after my last tablet.

I had the same in my last pregnancy and it's totally normal. Don't worry and keep taking your iron - it's important for you and baby
