Hi everyone, this is my first post!
I am currently around 5 weeks with my first after trying for 3 yearsGrin

I am sure its pretty normal but looking for reassurence i suppose for people in a similar situation!

I have almost no symptoms and keep forgetting i am actually growing a human...but i get mild period like 'flutters' during the day which arent an issue, the worry is at night the cramping is really painful to the point it wakes me up!

Has anyone else had this?

Thanks so muchSmile

Cramping is very normal. There’s a lot of stretching and moving going on. Tbh it always feels like AF is about to start as it feels the same.
Congratulations!

Snoopy28x · 05/06/2021 07:25

@3yearstrying yes thats normal. I always get horrendous back aches/cramps with all my pregnancies. It's usually my first sign I'm pregnant before I even test. I had that until 6 weeks. Now again at 8 weeks.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Smile enjoy your journey xx

georgarina · 05/06/2021 07:28

Yes I've had cramping to the point I can't stand up straight, all's been very normal :)

Congrats! Flowers

Megzj91 · 05/06/2021 07:43

Same! I got woken up today by a cramp. As long as it’s not day in day out and you’re not curled up in a ball all day with it then I think it’s very normal. Congrats!

Chica1990 · 05/06/2021 08:00

I had cramps the whole first 3 weeks and trailing off to intermittently until 13 weeks! Congratulations

3yearstrying · 05/06/2021 10:44

Thank you so much everyone!! Put my mind at rest! It literally is just twinges in the day and some cramping at night. Star

Hi @3yearstrying

I too have just found out I'm pregnant after 3 years! A huge congratulations to you.

I know I am looking at every sign and symptom, trying to see if it is normal because of the wait I've had so I bet you're probably the same.

How far are you now? I found out on the 10th June and I am around 6 weeks according to my last period. I have paid for a early scan next week to check everything and it's a mix of excitement and nerves x

elenacampana · 18/06/2021 11:01

It happened a lot in the earlier part of the first trimester for me OP and also woke me up in the night.

20 weeks in now so I’d say it’s pretty normal :-)

overtherainbo · 18/06/2021 11:19

I forgot to say. I rang EPAU yesterday to check my pains and she said it was my uterus expanding for baby. Obviously I still worry and make notes haha

Sometimesfraught82 · 18/06/2021 11:20

Cramps that strong to wake you, I’d get an early scan
I got one at 6 weeks. All fine.

At 5 weeks?
Sometimesfraught82 · 18/06/2021 11:21

My GP was straight with me.
And I appreciated it.
Thankfully all ok.

overtherainbo · 18/06/2021 11:25

@Sometimesfraught82 I am 7 weeks and that's what she said. She said it was a expanding uterus and to ring back if there is spotting/ bleeding which I haven't had 🤷🏻‍♀️

romdowa · 18/06/2021 11:26

I had cramping like period pains in early pregnancy. Over time they went away and round ligament pain replaced it 🙈🤣

Rosesareyellow · 18/06/2021 11:34

I don’t think pain that wakes you up is something to ignore, although I’m sure it happens to some and turns out to be nothing to worry about. I would ring you’re nearest EPAU for reassurance. I don’t want to put a downer on things or worry you but I was diagnosed with an ectopic at 6 weeks and had mild cramps - nothing that would have woken me up, so I think it’s best to keep an eye on things.

overtherainbo · 18/06/2021 11:36

This thread is actually 2 weeks old so she would be around 7 weeks now. Hopefully all is ok!!

3yearstrying · 18/06/2021 11:39

@overtherainbo
Congrats!! I am exactly the same! As the weeks go by I do get more at ease though and not analysing so much.

I am 10 weeks +1 and only found out at around 6 weeks. Due 13 January 22.

Good luck with your scan! I was a smoker, quit to 1 a day when i found out and now its 1 every couple days when i cant fight it. But due to being a smoker before i have more scans than usual to monitor more so im excited too!!

Thank you all for the advice! I have since spoken to my midwife and she is happy with everything. TMI but i think the worse cramps were actually gas/constipation overnight as i have really suffered with it so far!

@3yearstrying perfect, that's great to know. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. I think the earlier days are always the worst

Rosesareyellow · 18/06/2021 11:56

I’m glad all was ok!

Amysullivan · 21/02/2024 13:23

I previously had my first miscarriage at the beginning of January after 3 healthy pregnancies so it took me by surprise.
I'm pregnant again now, I think I'm coming up to 6 weeks but for the past three days I've been getting period like cramps in my lower stomach, groin and thighs. Is this normal? Or should I be worried
