Third trimester and I'm comfortable

I'm probably going to jinx myself now but I just needed reassurance.

With my first DS 💔 (who sadly was stillborn at full term) my bump was painful, heavy and huge due to excess amniotic fluid because he was poorly. So throughout that pregnancy I was in pain, couldn't walk much, struggled to breathe etc... this all started mid second tri to full term.

I'm now pregnant with DS1's sibling and all is well with this baby (touch wood). I have normal fluid levels etc. I started getting uncomfortable again in second trimester and thought oh no here we go the uncomfortableness has started again how am I going to cope!

Fast forward to now nearly 30 wks and in the last two weeks or so I have felt normal! I can walk for ages, I can tie my laces, I can run errands and chores without getting tired. I'm sleeping normally without preg pillow, I feel lighter etc... it's the weirdest thing! I'm really not used to this and just wondering is this is normal as I've only ever been used to a painful pregnancy because of my poor DS.

Baby is kicking away so I know all is well there, plus I have regular checks and scans, it just feels so light as if baby isn't there lol and it's just a bigger belly😂 ive probs jinxed myself now and on a few weeks I'll be in agony but im enjoying this feeling right now 😂

Thats great OP, I'm only in my 2nd trimester so don't have any experience to share with you but I hope I feel like you at 30 weeks!

Garman · 04/06/2021 08:29

I was very swollen from late second trimester but nobody took me seriously about it because I usually have quite skinny hands, ankles and feet so they seemed to think that what felt and looked swollen to me looked normal. I was so uncomfortable, breathless, having difficulty moving in bed, moving in general, always uncomfortable no matter what way I sat by 32ish weeks. Turns out I developed pre eclampsia at about 35 weeks, had fluid in my lungs, whole body was full of fluid. On my second pregnancy I had none of the swelling and didn't develop pre eclampsia and I was like you, so much lighter and fitter and more comfortable all the way to the end.

@Garman oh my goodness that's horrendous how dare they just dismiss that! That must have been frightening! I'm glad you're okay and your 2nd pregnancy felt more comfortable. As I was only used to an uncomfortable pregnancy this feels abnormal to me, but clearly is normal when all is well for us mummies and baby is healthy. Praying that continues. Thanks for the message 💕

@shivawn I hope that's the case for you too lovely all the best!

Enjoy it and hope it lasts.

I felt so normal in my 1st pregnancy but all term ones after that I've had spd and much bigger babies. I have the odd time when I don't feel pregnant but then I'll move and hip pain strikes. I'm only 29+4wk, I can still manage exercise but I am a bit slower walking and need longer rest period between lifting sets in the gym. All the recommendations for how to manage spd are stupid, continuing my training makes the pain more manageable so I will keep doing it as long as possible.

lukiebebe · 04/06/2021 10:12

@Chelyanne amazing that you're exercising and it helps over everything else! I'm not a big one to exercise so didn't risk it. Walking is the most I do lol.

I do remember spd with my DS1! The agony 😩 so far I've been okay! I get the occasional sharp sudden pain but then it's gone!

I pray it'll continue..but I've probably jinxed it now. It just feels so surreal to me as i am used to agony. All the best for your pregnancy we seem to be so close!

I'm due 16/8 but I plan an ELC at 39wks! Xx

@lukiebebe It's lovely for you to get a good experience after such a rough ride last time. I hope it continues for you to birth and beyond.

Yep, I'm due 17/8, may be a week early too if I go for elcs (optional as I had one with our twins last time).

lukiebebe · 04/06/2021 10:39

Thanks I hope so too!
Ooo wow so close! I pray all goes well. Never had an elc so I'm nervous but excited as our DS I was induced and it was traumatic for more reasons than one! Xx

@lukiebebe I'd only heard horror stories about how hard cs were and I was devastated that the lower of our twins turned breech and forced it. Turns out it was a really calm experience and my recovery was no harder than my 3 VB's so I'd be fairly happy to have another one.

You will be fine with it so long as you don't overdo things after surgery. I wish you the best of luck with it.

Worriesome · 04/06/2021 11:03

Glad to hear you’re feeling good, I hope it lasts for you and things go well with your ELC. I’m in my second trimester and extremely uncomfortable and struggling to do so much as turn over in bed. Pelvic pain has kicked in abs I can’t walk much distances. My last pregnancy was the opposite in that I felt as fit as a fiddle and was more active, a bit like you mention. I’m awfully swollen this time around but don’t know if it’s ‘normal’ or if it’s needing checked out. I know swelling and bloating are all part of normal pregnancies too so I’m unsure at what point I’m supposed to start worrying if that makes sense x

lukiebebe · 04/06/2021 11:26

@Worriesome sorry to hear you're feeling so uncomfortable right now! Tbh I was uncomfortable and in a lot of pain not long ago and now it's gone! So let's hope that'll happen to you too! Could be all the stretching etc that happens all of a sudden! Have you spoken to midwife about it? Xx

Hi OP,

I was able to tie my shoes until I had my baby at 39 weeks. I also managed to get some chores that require bending done about 1 week before baby arrived!

lukiebebe · 04/06/2021 13:22

@BL89 hey thanks for the message that's good to hear! Reassuring me that this is normal 😂 I hope I continue to feel this way and be able to do all that up until 39wks! Not long now 😬

Enjoy OP! I had a really easy pregnancy and felt great the whole way along, going for long walks and doing yoga when 40 weeks.
