Normal in the US. Presumably the doctor was checking your cervix was closed because you’d had spotting. At your first OB appointment at 8 weeks it’s also normal to have your Pap smear and breast exam if you haven’t had one in the last year and also a trans vaginal ultrasound to confirm pregnancy. I’m guessing you were seen earlier due to the spotting? I’ve been pregnant in the US and the U.K. and the US care is a lot more invasive!

US care is far more invasive and expensive. You appear to have extra and unnecessary tests - smear test and breast exam for example - to justify the cost.

My doctor didn't even do pregnancy test or speak to me! Receptionist told me to ring the midwife centre! They also didn't even do a test. (Although I still believe that's what they do with your urine samples).

I’m in the U.K. and had this after spotting he said if I couldn’t take the pressure he’d be pushing to check for ectopic quicker than a scan at 6 weeks

It's normal in the USA if you choose a dr for maternity. I had a midwife and my care was the same as the U.K. (except double the number of appointments!)
