Hello,
Has anyone had one of these recently please?
I've never had an operation or c section before so not sure what to expect, I know I need blood tests and covid test. I understand my partner needs a covid test too? My c section is in less than 2 weeks but don't have much info about this! Thanks :)

Our Trust sent me a ppt to read through ahead of the pre-op, which covered the basics of what to expect.

The actual pre-op appointment was a very quick 10 minute conversation with a midwife, who just gave me a pack with instructions and my meds in, and told me the day/time I’m booked in for. She explained a bit about what to do on the day and gave me a chance to ask questions.

I’d had an MRSA swab at a consultant appointment at 37 weeks, and then had to go for blood tests and a Covid test 2 days before the section, isolating from the point of testing.

Good luck in your section. I’m on my 3rd ELCS and have found them all to be very calm and positive experiences.

As pp said.
I also had steroid injections with my twins as they were delivered before 39wk. They never gave a time slot for surgery, was all a bit in the air as they had to find a 2nd surgeon but moved fast once they did.
Covid wasn't a thing when I had mine, hadn't thought to ask about isolating prior if I go elcs this time.

Good luck

@cantthinkofaname2021 hey! I have a c section In Two weeks too, the pre op assessment I think is the day before, they just said it's for bloods, and husband and I have Covid test two days before then have to isolate... x

You might get to see an anaesthetist too. The covid swabs probably won’t be done until nearer the section date but maybe they’ll be giving you an appointment for them. Ditto for some of the bloods.

I should have my pre op next week, as I'm due a planned c section next week!
