Baby Engaged at 30 weeks & Bowel Movements

Hi all...

My midwife informed me at my appointment last week that baby is engaged at only 30 + 5.. so that was a little scary but have since read that it doesn't necessarily mean baby will come early - phew!

However, I am now 31 + 5 today and for the past few days I've been having bowel movements much more frequently. For example, I was going just once a day before and now it seems I need to go after every meal!!

Is this normal? I'm hoping its just down to the position baby is in & pushing my organs around. But I've heard your body 'gets ready' in this way when labor is immenient, I'm obviously much too early and probably just overthinking things!

Baby was engaged at 32 weeks with me (38+4 now) and I was convinced I was going to be early, also due to bowel movements etc.

I think your probably just symptom spotting like I was. Unless it's something obvious like your waters breaking or contractions then I'd say you have nothing to worry about but bring it up at your next appointment if it's still worrying you
