Going into labour before planned c section?

Does anyone have any experience of this? I have a planned c section at the beginning of July at 39+3, due to low lying placenta and a baby measuring very big. I’m very nervous about going into labour before hand and potentially having to have a natural birth with a very big baby. Have heard a few things about shoulder dystocia which terrifies me. Likewise the idea of potentially having to have an emergency section at this time also worries me. Does anyone have any experience or advice?

My sister started labour before her section due date, she just rang the ward and they told her to come in the next morning for her section and all was fine.

I went into labour 3 days before my planned section many years ago. Ridiculous as it sounds I didn’t even realise that’s what it was as I was so focused on the date I had been given. Eventually I phoned the labour ward and they brought me in. I was about 4cm at the time do they went ahead with the section.

Try to think about what you've said: if you go into labour early then you'll be labouring in hospital and they'll be trying to get you in for a section during labour.

If they can't and your baby has shoulder dystocia then there's a (fairly standard and not painful - personal experience) intervention that works in the cast majority of cases. If it doesn't then you're in the right place.

I did, 5 weeks early for the same reason (low lying placenta). They decided to let me labour naturally and my little boy was born via a forcep delivery as contractions completely stopped when I got to 10cm. All was good in the end. Home within 3 days.

I'm due a csection in 8 days. I laboured very quickly 2 weeks early with my ds1. If I go into labour before my csection date, I'm to ring the hospital on route and tell them so they can be prepared and then they'll do an emergency planned csection

This happened to my sister. She just called up, they tried to convince her to go vaginally and she refused. Still had a very calm section the next morning.

My waters went 3 weeks before my planned section (previous traumatic delivery) so the brought my section forward to that morning

When labour started about an hour after my waters went they asked me if I wanted to try myself or still have the section, I said I still wanted it and things moved very fast (like they would for an emergency section)

In the end my baby was worn vaginally in theatre with the whole team there about to start the section! But I've had insanely fast labours for my 2nd and 3rd (she was 12 minutes!) So that's pretty unlikely to happen to you and for me it was a great experience

Just get to the hospital in plenty of time
