Bleed at 12 weeks

Hi all, I wanted to post as I've been so reassured by everyone's chats. Hoping my post will reassure me now and others in the future! I'm 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow, and just had a sudden heavy bleed. No pain at all, but I bled through to my jeans with a fair amount of blood. It's now Saturday night and a bank holiday so I can't get to eapu or midwife and would rather avoid a&e if I can. I'm looking for some reassurance from you lovely folk. I'm hoping it could just be one of those things and all will be fine. I had a mc last year at 10 weeks, in hindsight I'd lost my symptoms a few weeks before. But today is so out of the blue, while I've not felt particularly sick today I've had nausea everyday including yesterday. Can loss of symptoms and start of miscarriage be that quick?

I think you should go to A&E tbh x

Can they actually offer any help or tests though or will they just send me home to see how it goes?

Pregnant with DS2. I had exactly the same. I spotted from 8-14 weeks and had a massive gush of blood 2 days before my 12 week scan, it was almost as if my waters broke, and it stopped pretty much as soon as it started

Unless you’re still actively bleeding and in pain, A&E won’t be able to offer any assistance I wouldn’t of thought.

I’m currently 20 weeks btw, so they had no idea what it was but they couldn’t see any evidence of any cause of bleeding on the scan, was just “one of those things”

How are you? My EPU is 24/7, check when yours is open! You do need to be seen after a big bleed, though its usually OK.

I'm not too bad today thank you, no more active bleeding and no pain. I headed to A&E first thing, just some bloods taken etc and a couple of very uncomfortable swabs. My cervix is still closed if that's a glimpse of hope. Everyone was great there but it was just a go home, rest and see how it goes. The eapu unit is only open on weekdays so also closed tomorrow for the bank holiday. So a scan is booked for Tuesday morning. Everything is crossed and hoping for the best.

I hope your scan went well.

Yes scan was ok, little one is still here and wriggling around. Which is a huge relief. The midwife couldn't see why I'd had the bleed. She just said it was one of the things, in hindsight it did feel different to the MC last year. No pain, and sudden gush. I have my proper 12 week scan tomorrow so hopefully all will progress perfectly from here. Thanks everyone x

That's great news. I had a huge bleed at 5.5 weeks and now snuggling my newborn.

Glad everyone was ok at your scan, hopefully you won't have any more bleeding, that must be scary especially after your MC x
