Sterilisers ?!

Hey all,

I was planning on buying a Tommee Tippee bundle contacting perfect prep machine and steam steriliser etc. Was looking for reviews for the steriliser and nearly all were showing 5* for it however when I actually started reading them nearly all the reviews for the last year or so have been about how awful the new version of the steriliser is, that is breaks and isn't safe etc.

I do however see everyone saying how good the cold Milton steriliser is.

Does anyone have a recent Tommee Tippee steam steriliser and how is it ?

Also, what is everyone's view on the Milton one ?

Thanks 😊

If I were you I'd skip the steriliser all together and just get the mam self sterilising bottles! I found them so much easier with my second dd.

LutherRalph1 · 28/05/2021 20:51

Not much help for your question but agree with above, the mam bottles are brilliant

Betsyboo87 · 28/05/2021 21:14

Milton has worked great for us. We change the water at the same time each day and just add bottles as they’re washed. As long as it’s been 30mins from the last one being added then you’re good to go. A couple of times we’ve forgotten and then we just boil a bottle for 5mins. We have a couple of the MAM bottles but don’t have a microwave. I can imagine they’re pretty handy though. Only thing we found with the MAM ones is that they’re thicker plastic and take longer to cool. Swings and roundabouts I guess!

I will prob get a couple of MAM ones as I've heard great things about them however will still be looking for a steriliser

We’ve had a tommee tippee steriliser since Feb and it’s worked fine for us!

Mrsdoubtfireswig · 28/05/2021 22:56

I’ve got tommee tippee steriliser and it’s been fine. It is big though so I can only get it in my microwave by taking the microwave plate out

Have heard great things about the mam bottles too

Mrsdoubtfireswig · 28/05/2021 22:56

It can also be used as a cold steriliser too btw

Anon9990 · 28/05/2021 23:01

I did and after using it twice the plate went brown and I had to descale (I live in a soft water area) when I contacted them about it I was asked if I was cleaning them first before sterilising as that must be the problem!!!!
No your products are shit! Still disputing with them but currently have a dr brown one which I’ve had no issues with and it dries the bottles too x

I have one but never use it - I prefer the mam self sterilising ones you put in the microwave - you can't take the steriliser with you when you go out and about but everyone has a microwave these days

andivfmakes3 · 29/05/2021 07:01

Also we've had a lot power cuts In our area lately so have a Milton as a back up

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 29/05/2021 07:06

My parents have a TT steam steriliser for when we go to their house with DD2. I hate it! You can fit barely anything in it and the lid is enormous and knocks the whole thing over if you try to put it on too fast.

At home, we use the mother care steriliser that we’ve had since DD1 was born in 2014. It’s still brilliant 7 years later.

My PIL don’t have a microwave. It’s a complete PITA because we’d rather not have to pack our enormous steriliser every time we want to stay with them. It also means I can’t quickly warm up portions of food I’ve brought for my DDs.
NatalieH2220 · 29/05/2021 07:09

We have the TT steriliser that has a drying option and really like it. Been using it 6 months so far and no issues.

JesskerM · 29/05/2021 07:21

We had a Milton and then travel one for days out.. the Milton saved the day the few times we had power cuts!

sarah13xx · 29/05/2021 07:40

I have the mam bottles and mam sterilizer that goes in the microwave. The container in it can also be used with cold Milton tablets

LilacSloth · 29/05/2021 08:07

I used a Milton cold water steriliser with my dd. Found it very easy. Plan to use it again for second baby too.

stormelf · 29/05/2021 08:24

I us d Milton cold water steriliser for both my children and will use it again once this baby is here. Very easy to use and cheap. I live in a very hard water area and everyone I know who had a tommee tippee steriliser ended up going through a couple as they just broke. This was three years ago though so can't comment on the new one

jojododobobo · 29/05/2021 08:28

I'm not a fan of the Milton ones because they smell horribly clinical when they come out, I wouldn't want to eat my dinner off something that smelt that strong so didn't think a baby would like it either

Moorelewis · 29/05/2021 09:25

I don't like the bleachy smell of the milton, personally. I have the tommee tippee steriliser and I think it's great. You do need to descale it regularly though.

andivfmakes3 · 29/05/2021 09:43

I've never noticed the Milton smell to be honest? Maybe if I haven't had the right water to tablet ratio but it's never been that strong?
