Early scans after 2 miscarriages

I'm 5 +2 and so scared of losing this baby as two previous losses in 2017 and 2019 I don't have any children and am 41 and we have been trying for 4 years (believe me it gets very tiresome).

The consultant told me that I'm to have an early scan and progesterone but she didn't put these on my notes so. I one can give me any as she is out of the country. So frustrating.

If I was to got for a private scan and there was something wrong what would happen?

I have hcg taken today and Thursday at the gp surgery. So at least something.

Anyone have any advice please?

I think private scan places ask for your gp details an they would recommend you go to the EPU if there was something wrong.

Most private places won't offer you a scan unless you're 6-7 weeks though.

I had a mc this year and have been for my early private scan as I was feeling very anxious too so I can understand how you feel. Hope it all goes well for you

@bages1977

Thank you. I'm at the clinic (consultant for fertility) on Wednesday next week so will wait until then as they may scan me then if not I'll book for the following week at the private place so will be 7 weeks so hopefully better. I did ring and they told me to come in.

Hope all is going well for you I'm a bag of nerves. Did tell a few people today and that was really nice and they know what I have been through.

@cherrypiepie yeah I'd be surprised if they didn't scan you tbh. Hopefully they do so it can put your mind at ease.

I'm a bag of nerves too. I'm only just over 6 weeks and the second trimester seems like a lifetime away. Just want to get passed that first milestone and hopefully feel a little more positive

Hi ladies!
Congratulations on being pregnant first of all! I'm currently 7 weeks tomorrow and I've been in and out of epu since finding out,
(I've had a few bleeds and pain)
If you are ever worried of have bleeding or pain just call up your local EPU and they should see you within 24hrs.

I'm a massive bag of nerves as I'm so negative about everything and I just don't feel like I'm lucky enough to have my 2nd baby, I have a little boy but he was after years of heartbreak too so I'm just not confident about this pregnancy at all :(

How are you ladies feeling??

cherrypiepie · 25/05/2021 22:03

@bages1977 when did you have your scan? I really hope it was ok. I would hope they will scan me next week but sometimes y'know they don't do what I would hope they would do.

@charlotte95x I hope all is well with you and things have settled down. It's so very stressful. I can't self refer to EPAU here it has to be a gp referal unless you have had three losses and the go last time wouldn't refer me and made me wait until the 12 week scan where I got the bad news. (No wonder i am so nervous with no faith in the NHS) I've had a tiny bit of bleeding (that made me do a test because it was like 10 days after 'period' which was obvious not a period but an implantation bleed)

I'm happy with hcg test for now. So will no more Friday when I get the second test back I will be 5+4 so's till real early if I have my days right

I had the scan on Sunday after having a lot of cramps etc. Saw a baby with a heartbeat but I'm booked on again at a private scan on 5th June to make sure it's developing ok due to previous mc.

Just waiting for appointment form midwife but she said it was sooner this week and they would wait until 6/7 weeks. Finger crossed x

Another blood test tomorrow so will find out what the hcg is doing by Friday.
