Always suffered with piles since my mid twenties (32 now) since the start of this pregnancy they have become so much worse.
I am honestly in agony. There's a huge one that won't stay in. I have to sit most of the time as now at 21 weeks when I stand it makes it worse and if I spend any time walking I spend the rest of the day in agony.
My doctor has referred me but I'm not being seen until July. I honestly feel like I need a wheelchair cos of these damn things!!
Anyone else has them so bad?

Sending loads of love OP - they are the WORST. I've suffered with IBS for years, and have had on/off piles as a result since my mid-twenties too.

As soon as I hit my third trimester I had a huge IBS flare up and my old friends returned... with a few others joining them!!! Needless to say I'm not petrified of what my rear end is going to look like post birth Blush!!!

My midwife told me to use Anusol, which I personally have always found to be absolutely useless. I'm now using Germaloids - seems to be working slightly better so maybe worth a try? It has antiseptic in it and almost numbs the area for a while which provides some respite!!

Not much I can offer in way of advice but I completely feel your pain!! Take care! Xx

That should be 'now' petrified, definitely not 'not' petrified!!!

I have IBS too and I'm always asked by doctors if I'm constipated but usually I'm not (I am at the moment due to side effects of tablets I'm taking for pregnancy sickness!) they seem to be caused by my IBS as I can sometimes be on the toilet 5-10 times a day with a bad flare. Do yours get worse with standing? I noticed them getting worse after a shift standing at work the day before I found out I was pregnancy and they've only got worse. I'm literally like an old lady in that I can stand or walk for long. I got anusol too which is rubbish. I'll try germaloids! I have a feeling or at least I'm hoping they will band them for me before I give birth. I won't be surprised if I end up having surgery on them though. Part of me is thinking of requesting a c section as I can't imagine what damage giving birth will do! xx

@gottabepositive yeah that's definitely what caused mine too - it wasn't constipation but the opposite! I was running for the loo almost hourly Blush and had very lose bowels (apologies if TMI!!). So they just got worse and worse!

Mine told to get worse if I'm up for long periods, but then equally if I spend too long sat down!! So it feels like I can't really win at the moment!!

I keep trying to have warm baths and that makes them slightly less tender, meaning when I pop some cream on it's slightly less painful.

I have to admit it's made me debate c-section because I am terrified of how bad they'll be after the birth!!

Keeping everything crossed for you and that they treat them before! Xx

Thisisjaaam · 25/05/2021 15:07

The c section anaesthetic might actually make you constipated. When I had mine, I ended up really backed up and it made my piles 10x worse

Shmerlock · 25/05/2021 15:13

@Thisisjaaam oh no! What a nightmare! It's like we can't win!! 🙈

Rubyrecka · 25/05/2021 15:43

Aw god they are the worse aren't they? I had them when I was constipated which was basically the whole of first trimester but they've been much better in the 2nd. Drinking hot water and lemon helps loosen things up shall we say when going to the loo.

HayB · 25/05/2021 18:52

Horrid aren’t they! I have them currently and first night was kept awake as so uncomfortable 🥵

I’ve been try ice in a paper towel down there when led on sofa or a wet frozen panty liner, defo helps!

I was mortified they came 2 days before my cervix scan which is internal!! AND they had to perform a speculum sample so was all on show. Leave your dignity at the door is really very true 😩🤣

Lnix · 25/05/2021 20:19

Have you tried the anusol suppositories as well as the cream? Those helped me bit. Poor you, so awful!

sarah13xx · 25/05/2021 20:23

Same as you in that I’ve had them for years on and off. Just reached the third trimester now but some days they’re so so painful. They bleed every time I go to the toilet and I’m having to push one back in too. Occasionally it lasts a few days in and seems to not feel so bad then I’m back to being in agony again 🤦🏼‍♀️ I haven’t taken a single bit of medication since being pregnant and I’m sure a lot of the treatments for them don’t do any harm but I’ve still not used them. I had the anusol suppositories before I was pregnant and I don’t really feel like they helped much so haven’t bothered trying with them again. Going to need to get something done when baby is here 😩

gottabepositive · 25/05/2021 20:24

@sarah13xx That's just like me. Loads of bleeding every time I go to the toilet (when I can!) I'm just hoping they will band them before I have the baby. Do your hurt all the time? x

@gottabepositive this might sound stupid but have you tried pushing them back in?
I have one that pops out every time I go for a number 2 and if I very gently press it back it with loo paper, off it pops back indoors. If I don't its absolute agony and extremely uncomfortable.
i also have bowel issues that end up with me on the loo lots Sad I am genuinely worried about what labour will do to it and there doesn't seem to be a massive amount of help from Drs with regards to them, we are just expected to get on with it.

sarah13xx · 25/05/2021 21:03

@gottabepositive on the days when it’s sticking out and has bled it really hurts to walk for that day. It just kind of hurts all the time when they flare up. Right now they’re totally fine for some reason and didn’t bleed today but were sore a few days ago! I was having weetabix to try and help me go and stop it from hurting but then I sometimes find when I have the sudden urge to ‘go’ for any longer than a few minutes before getting to the toilet it’s like that’s made it worse and it’s really sore and a lot of blood again! 🤦🏼‍♀️ It makes me panic sometimes as well in case it’s coming from the front but already relieved to realise it’s not 🙄
