I’m a FTM and I lost a huge amount of my mucus plug Sunday! It just kept coming and coming but I did have a large blob come out (tmi I’m sorry). Anyways, I was excited but knew it could still be days for anything to happen. I’m 40wks+5 today and since Sunday, everytime I wipe, there’s more mucus coming out and it’s not even small amounts. I never realised you could keep losing it? I’d understand if I’d only had a tiny but come out but the first lot was honestly like a jelly fish and tinged brown/pink... now it’s gone back to being clear-ish and smaller amounts! Just confused really when I was so confident on Sunday

The mysterious mucus plug! It does seem to be different for everyone I'm afraid.

When I lost mine with DS1 it came out in one huge piece (over a foot long lol) and I knew I was in labour about an hour later - frequent but manageable contractions all in the back.

This time round I've been losing it in bits since 36 weeks (37+4 now) so who knows! It doesn't seem to be a reliable way of predicting when labour will start.

However if as you say it was tinged brown/red then it sounds like a bloody show? Which I think Is more of an indicator of labor. Can you call your midwife for reassurance?

When I was in labour with my first, I was the same as you... was losing bits for a few days... and in labour, I was convinced my waters had gone because pads were wet, but it was just more plug!!
