Contractions?

Hi everyone,
Can anyone offer me some advice? I'm 38.5 weeks pregnant and scheduled for a cesarean in just under 1 week. Since last night I have been having contractions roughly every 7-12 minutes. They are slightly painful but not getting worse. During them I also feel pressure in my bum. Could this still be Braxton Hicks or the real deal? I also feel nauseous and my bowel is irritable.

I’m not sure but given you’re scheduled for a c section it might be a good idea to ring the maternity unit/ your mw to ask for guidance.

Sounds like it could be the start. When my contractions were slow the midwife advised me to have a hot bath. She said it will either speed things up or stop. Then you know it it's real labour or not. For me it worked a treat and they went to 2mind apart!!! Needless to say I leapt out of the bath and down to the mat unit pronto 😀 good luck with your labour and new arrival x

Thanks for your replies. I have been in labor before with my first but it started with my water breaking so there was no denying it. Literally no symptoms before that. Hoping this isn't the real deal and it will die off in the night.

I would get checked out by midwives seeing as you're booked for a caesarean fairly soon. If it is the real deal, the longer notice they have to prepare the theatre for delivery, the better.
You don't want to wait until your practically pushing the baby out and have to have a mad panic emergency delivery.
Of course, the above slightly depends on the reason for your section. If it's just maternal preference, it's somewhat less urgent than if it's for placenta praevia for example Smile

Good luck! Hope you've been in contact with the hospital. I was contracting for 11 hours before my waters broke.

Late to the party but agree with calling your labour ward.

Good luck! Come back and update us!

Morning guys,
Well I've had a good nights sleep and haven't had and contractions this morning. So not the real thing this time! So confusing! I was probably feeling a bit anxious as well because if I went into labor that would mean my husband would miss the birth. Stay in there just a few more days baby! I'm having a cesarean due to 3 previous cesareans so not as high risk as someone with placenta previa. Thanks for the support!

Fingers crossed baby stays in there a few more days for you! Take it easy and keep us posted! Smile xx

Just wanted to give an update. This was not real labor. My baby boy was born 1st of June via scheduled c-section Smile
