Giving birth - own room?

Hey lovely ladies on here. I had a question - when you go into labour do you have your own room to give birth in or is it like on a ward with just a curtain to separate so there are other women giving birth at the same time? I have one daughter already but it was incredibly rushed I almost had her in the ambulance. Thank you!

Birthing suites are generally private

You have your own room to give birth. You usually go back on a ward after delivery.

I had my own room

The Delivery Suite is a separate unit to the Maternity Ward.

You may be with other people in early labour then they will wheel you round or you can walk to the Delivery Suite. It's got loads of private rooms, some with en suite bathrooms or a water birth pool. You are not watched by other people and it's completely private.

Our hospitals maternity unit has a labour unit (consultant led) or a midwife unit for giving birth and they are all separate rooms and are quite sound proofed! I have had spontaneous labours so have stayed at home until I needed to come in and then have either been assessed in a separate area (on my own) and put into the birthing unit or I’ve gone straight into a room. Post birth I’ve left straight from the birthing unit room to go home or gone to the post natal ward for my GBS birth for extra monitoring. I understand that if you are induced then you would be on a ward until active labour (If you don’t go home after being induced which depends on the induction method)

Our hospital is all private rooms en-suite rooms in both the birthing suit and maternity ward. Women being induced are on the labour ward but they will be in their own private room.

The other hospital I looked didn’t have en-suite birthing room and there were visitors wandering around the corridors.
