Persistent round ligament pain

Hello, I’m 14w and have had really painful, persistent round ligament pain on my right side since yesterday afternoon. It was fine when I was sleeping but I really struggled to get out of bed this morning and I can barely move around. I’ve read that RLP shout just be fleeting pain and go away after resting. Is this normal, or can you guys suggest anything to make it better? Thanks x

@spacegirl123 I had a persistent pain like this 2 weeks ago, on my lower right side, like a period cramp but it would get worse when moving or twisting and ease when I was lying still. It came on around week 18 for me and lasted about 4 days. I think it was just things stretching out because my bump had a little growth spurt right after! I

took paracetamol for it but to be honest it didn't really help, the only thing I can suggest is get plenty rest and hopefully it'll ease off soon! Call your maternity hospital if you're worried, I called my maternity ED when I got it and they were very reassuring.

Hey @shivawn, sounds the same as what I'm experiencing, on day 3 now and pretty constant except when I'm lying absolutely perfectly still. hoping it eases off... I'll see how I go but I'll give my midwife a wee call tomorrow if it doesn't go down. Thanks Smile

Its so debilitating, look after yourself and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it goes soon! For me it went as fast as it started, I woke up one morning and it was gone!

spacegirl123 · 25/05/2021 12:33

Oh fingers crossed!!!

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and I've had rlp for weeks and weeks. I now know when my womb is moving up because it gets worse. Moving is torture some days

@romdowa Sorry that you're dealing with that, it really is terrible to be in pain. Sad I'm hoping it will improve for you soon x

@spacegirl123 Just to update, I had a maternity appointment this morning and my urine tested positive for a UTI, the doctor thought my cramping a couple weeks ago might have been an early symptom. I have no other symptoms now. Just thought I'd let you know just in case!

spacegirl123 · 27/05/2021 17:44

Thanks @shivawn pain’s back so I might get it checked out 😫

It's definitely worth getting it checked out incase it's something but, as much as I don't like doing "pregnancy horror story" type thing, mine did last the whole pregnancy. It was on and off but it stuck around. I learnt to get up very carefully! I hope yours goes away and stays away though.

I had this a few weeks back when I rolled over too vigorously in bed and it felt like I’d sort of strained something- was really sore for about 2 days, so not as bad as some of you, but I couldn’t believe such an innocuous action could result in so much discomfort!
