Inconclusive scan

Hi ,
Wondering if anyone has had this before .
Went for a early scan today just for my own sake to know that everything is ok and there is a heart beat .

I am well should be 8+5 days pregnant ( going off last date of period ) . When I was scanned the scanner said I am definitely pregnant but looked like I was 6+2 days and was too early to be able to go into detail On anything further an suggested a vaginal scan . Which I said go ahead with . He then said the same thing no heart beat could be detected as showing so small and I’m too early he said yolk sac is present and embryo is present just feral heartbeat is not seen .

What I am so confused about is online it says a vaginal scan can detect a heartbeat from 5 1/2 weeks to 6 weeks so why didn’t mine ?

The fact I thought I was 8 weeks plus and he is saying I’m looking like I’m only 6weeks does this mean my baby’s heart beat stoped at 6 weeks and I’m having a silent miss carriage?

Having to wait two weeks is going to be torchere.
I also have my first midwife appointment this week just for bloods an have my 12 week scan already booked but that’s 4 weeks away I don’t know if I can wait that long I just don’t think I can bare booking another private scan to be told I’ve definitely miss carried it’s awful as I still have symptoms like sickness an sore breasts

I think it’s really hard to tell. My early scan was 6+5 and I saw heartbeat and was measuring bang on to then be told at my 12 week I was measuring over a week ahead. The same thing happened to my friend she thought she was 7 weeks and was somehow only just over 6 weeks.

Could you maybe ask your doctor if they can refer you to early pregnancy for bloods X amount of days apart to see if your levels are still rising?

It’s so hard but if I was in your shoes I’d probably have to book another private scan for a week or so’s time x

I had something similar earlier this year. I went for a scan just over 7 weeks but was measuring 8 days behind and no HB seen. They told me my dates could be out but I have a reliable 28 cycle and didn’t think so. Scanned a week later and no growth or HB so it was a missed miscarriage in that case x

How confident are you about the dates? Like did you track ovulation with OPKs or BBT?

I'd be inclined to book a scan for 4 days time as it'd be clear if baby was growing then.

I’m going to ring tomorrow regarding bloods as I’m due a blood test on Thursday ( first midwife appointment) see if they can do it sooner everyday is going to be longer with the wait I just can’t deal with not knowing an I need to process if I’m Miss carrying or if I’m far too early .

Really sorry to hear about that . I keep convincing myself I’ve miss carried but then I keep reading other stuff online that gives me hope I can’t help myself I just need to know it’s awful x

@ApplePie86 I am super confident as I have a period app and it tracks ovulation too I am 100% going to ring my local early pregnancy unit and see what they can do in regards to getting my answers sooner x

No advice but just wanted to say I'm in the EXACT same situation right now. Should be 8 weeks but showing 6 weeks. Everything looks fine and all in right place just no heartbeat yet :(

Oh wow ! I have never heard of this happening so knowing someone else in the world is in the same situation.
How are u feeling ?
I had my appointment at 11:30 this morning and haven’t been myself all day just don’t know how to think or what to process I’m kind of thinking the worst to prepare myself

Hi ladies

I rang the early pregnancy unit today and they have booked me in for a scan at 1pm as they cannot go off what the private scanner said . And then will do another after 2 weeks to see if any change ( if there’s a HB )

I'm sorry you are going through this. I had similar last year. I should have been around 9 weeks and they said I was only measuring 6, but there was a heartbeat. They said I just have my dates wrong and to come back in two weeks.
I knew my dates weren't wrong, and when I went back in two weeks the heartbeat had gone. I miscarried a few days later.

Hiya Ladies

Bad news ..
They informed me I’m having a silent MC that’s why I’m still getting such strong symptoms ( sickness sore breasts etc ) my body hasn’t caught up with what’s going on .
They have given me another appointment on Monday to do one final scan and then give me the option of taking a tablet to help bring it on or I can wait if that’s what I want .
I don’t really know what I want . Not this obviously .
But how I am looking at it is . I could of been so much further gone and something like this happen or even worse he told there is issues with the baby . Just so so sad as I did not see this coming .

@Yasminelysia123 so sorry to hear that. I had the op under GA and found that gave me a sense of closure over the process. Before my son I had a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks and miscarried naturally which was physically and mentally agonising. There was no pain with the op. @Buffyfan26 I’m so sorry to hear that you went through that, it is absolutely devastating.
That is exactly what I need closure to close the book feeling like I’ve got to wait until Monday for final scan or for it to happen naturally between now an then is just giving me so much anxiety . But I cannot control what is happening it’s out of my hands now .

Heartbreaking I am so sorry .
To be told there was a heartbeat and then to have to wait to be scanned again to be told there now isn’t is just awful .
I think no matter how far along the pregnancy was it is still so so devastating and very confusing .
I still cannot wrap my head around it as I still feel pregnant it just doesn’t seem right xxxx

@Yasminelysia123 just to give you some hope - I am currently 7 weeks pregnant after my MMC earlier this year. We saw a heartbeat today so it’s all ok so far (though not getting ahead of myself). This is my 4th pregnancy, first being at 33 and 36 now with MMC (11 weeks) son, MMC (9 weeks) and so far ok. Miscarriage especially missed is an awful thing to go though but it can and hopefully will work out xxx

Hope everything turns out okay.

Unfortunately, that happened to me and I had a missed miscarriage. I'd seen a heartbeat in a scan and it had stopped by the next at nearly 9 weeks. In the end I had surgical management at 12 weeks and my symptoms didn't stop until I woke up from theatre.

Today I feel like I have to fix up and stop moping around and just take it for what it is even though it’s so painful but I am capable of producing a healthy baby my daughter is living proof of that . It’s just the shock I think xxx

@Chanel05 so sorry to hear that my sister also had similar . It’s just a horrific situation to ever have to go through no matter how far along . Having that positive pregnancy test digesting your pregnant and then for it all to be shattered weeks down the line it’s very traumatic xxx

@Yasminelysia123 absolutely. To me that test was always a baby. I hope you are able to conceive again soon.

As a bit of hope, I conceived again 8 months later and now have an 8 month old, fresh from the bath and about to have her bedtime bottle.
