Looking for some similar success stories.

Firstly doctor told me not to worry. I know from this sentence alone that I shouldnt but this process is so intense it's hard not too. She also told me things are so small this early it's hard to measure properly.

Anyway, had seven week scan yesterday. Obviously as it's IVF we know it's seven weeks.
Got to see a lovely little bean and heartbeat and was told everything looked fine. Only thing is when she measured it was 6.3mm which they say is 6+1 days.

I have had a missed miscarriage before a few years ago so was in absolute panic before the scan.

Anyone else had anything similar? I know it's easy for dates to be off in early scans usually but wondering how common it is for ivf?

Hi op firstly congratulations.. I wouldn't worry to much about it hun. I've been 3 different dates. For me I will just wait until my "12 week" scan on 25th June. The main thing here for you hun is to sit back and relax as much as you can x

willithappen · 22/05/2021 19:09

Thanks @jade0881
The nurse doing the scan did say it was all totally fine and I know I should listen to her but so hard to not panic.
I have had a mmc a few years ago with a previous partner and then 6 years ttc with no BFP and going through ivf and I guess I'm just waiting for something to go wrong

Need to try relax and enjoy things

@willithappen aww hun believe me I know how you feel. And I'm sorry for you loss.
I had 2 MC. I have 2 daughters aged 12 and 6. In between both my daughters I had the MC's. it took me 4.5 years to conceive again. The way I see it I have been blessed by the grace of god with this pregnancy. I am currently 8w4d.

When you are that early the measurements are hard to get accurate, so being 3/4 days our is common even with IVF. The main thing is if you saw a good strong heartbeat. I had an early scan with a heartbeat which then miscarried later, BUT at the time the heartbeat wasn't quite right, they told me it was slow - if your doc said not to worry, then try not to. I know it's impossible though - I went through so many miscarriages that when it finally went right I honestly didn't let myself believe it was all ok until I had my babies in my arms! Good luck x

@willithappen the exact same thing happened to me, I panicked too. Currently 38+3. We booked a private scan for 10 weeks by which time baby was measuring bang on, and by the nhs scan was brought forward 2 days. It's scary but the measurements just can be off when they're so tiny. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

LostInTheLingerieSection · 22/05/2021 20:44

My 7 week scans have all be a bit off, even with my IVF ones when you know an exact date/moment a blastocyst was replaced!

With this one (natural preg) I was 5 days behind my dates at a 7 week scan and then 6 days ahead at my 12 week scan!

They're so tiny it's hard to be completely accurate. Just hope for the best and keep everything crossed. There's nothing you can do except stay positive. There's every chance it will be fine.

willithappen · 22/05/2021 20:46

Thank you so so much ladies. This positivity helps me keep positive also ❤️

I'm feeling positive that all will be okay! I have a private scan booked for Thursday when we will be 8 weeks, but I already had a private booked for 10.5 weeks. Although I'm worrying I'm thinking maybe to cancel the 8 week one and wait it out for the 10 week

Haven't heard back from midwife yet so not booked I'm there either

Did they do an internal or external scan? If only external at this stage, I’d definitely expect it to be less accurate and easy to be out by a few days either way. Good luck! If you can hold out until 10.5 weeks that will provide greater certainty but I know how hard it can be. Flowers

Honestly at this stage it’s all so tiny it’s hard to be accurate. With DD2 I had some bleeding early in and was scanned at what I thought was around 6w 5d. I had lots of scans between then and the 12w scan that all came up with different dates, so earlier than what I thought and some later. It wasn’t until my 12w scan that things became more accurate, although it still put me 3 days behind when I was fairly sure I had conceived (I know you know for sure because of IVF). In the end she was born at .... 39+4 so I’m pretty sure I was always right about when I conceived, whatever the scans said.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy @willithappen

In almost the same position (IVF). Had my scan yesterday when I should have been 7+2 but she struggled to find the baby. She told me there was an empty sac at first. She found the baby but it’s measuring at 6+4 on one and 6+2 on the other measurement she took. Thankfully there was a heartbeat so I’ve been discharged from infertility but going to book a private scan for 9 weeks. She said if they see a heartbeat it’s a good sign but my baby is nearly one week behind which is so worrying.

willithappen · 22/05/2021 21:37

It was an internal one so should be a little more accurate.

@VanillaSpiceCandle aw we are at exactly the same then! I was also discharged from the fertility clinic at the scan also as they saw a healthy heartbeat and said the sizes just now didn't matter and not to worry. Obviously easier said than done haha.

Good luck for your scan and keep me updated! I'm going to wait and see if I want to keep the 8 week scan or wait out. Even if I can see things continuing on I think that would ease my mind

I think maybe to for peace of mind for yourself you should go to both the scans. I did the same thing. Keep us updated hun x

willithappen · 27/05/2021 19:56

For anyone still watching and those who may come across this with something similar - had a follow up scan today and am 8 weeks. Baby is measuring at exactly 8 weeks so has caught up 😅 I am SO relieved and honestly after everything I really thought at that 7 week scan when I measure 6+1 that it was the start of the end

Crying with joy
