Hi, i am 37 weeks pregnant. I had some urine infection last week and started taking Amoxicilline 500 mg three times a day. From yesterday I have started getting this discharge. Is this my mucus plug falling out? Does it mean I will go into labour soon? Or is it side effects of antibiotics or urine infection? Was hoping to complete weeks before baby arrives.

Could well be your mucus plug. I don't think it means you'll go into labour soon though. They usually whisk you in for your waters breaking but I think the plug can replenish itself 🤔

Survivingmy3yearold · 22/05/2021 16:32

That could be your mucous plug. With my first I lost it at 36 weeks but didn't go into labour for another 2 weeks. With my second I'd been getting irregular contractions since the early hours and lost my plug early afternoon and gave birth at 7 that evening Smile If you're not getting any other signs then hopefully you've got time yet although it's a good sign that your body is getting ready

Mine looked like a jellyfish if that’s any help!

Fitforforty · 22/05/2021 16:36

It could be a tiny tiny bit of it. If you lost lots then it can regrow.

From 37 weeks you are full term.

Thisisjaaam · 22/05/2021 16:36

I think so! But as a PP said, you can lose your plug at any time and it can replace itself so still a waiting game for the moment!

Flippyflops2021 · 22/05/2021 16:38

Mine have always been much ‘more’ than that (3 babies) with tinge of blood... like jelly at least the amount of a couple of marbles or something 😆

Unfortunately losing plug doesn’t mean labour is imminent anyway. Good luck!

LittleRa · 22/05/2021 16:39

It looks like a bit of your mucus plug but not the full thing. Hopefully won’t be too much longer for you, good luck!

Thank you Teddybeans. I will be 38 weeks on Thursday so was hoping that baby will hang in there for few days. May be it will just a initial signs of impeding labour in coming week. I thought mucus plug may stop generating after 37 weeks.

Hi Survivingmy3yearold, I had some period like pain since yesterday but nothing major. Discharge is not that much yet. But I can feel my baby's movement very low and it has emptied some area on top. Thank you for sharing your experience. It's different with every pregnancy. But it was quick for you in second one.

Thanks Watto1. I had a lots of normal to abnormal discharge first 6 months of pregnancy. So it makes me so confused to differentiate between mucus plug and discharge. But thank you for describing it.

Hi Fitforforty. I thought the same but read it somewhere that 38 weeks is full term. But anyways I haven't lost lots of mucus so may be it's just a slow process of body to get ready for the big day.

Yes it's now waiting game Thisisjaaam. Hope I finish the work commitments before it. I will keep eye now onwards for any more signs.

In the U.K. 37 weeks is definitely considered to be full term.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 22/05/2021 21:01

That does look like mucus plug, when I lost mine I had tinges of blood in it also.. then the contractions started an hour or so after, but I did have a sweep that same day as well. Hopefully baby is getting ready!! Good luck!! 💖

It could be a tiny part of mucus plug. But anyways ladies delivered a beautiful healthy baby girl on 24th May. 😄😃😀
