Membrane Sweep?! HELP ME

PLEASE indulge me with your positive stories!
So I had a sweep yesterday at 37+4. Being induced at 39 due to PGP/SPD issues. Fully expected to be told my cervix was closed. Midwife was really surprised - I was about 2/3cm, she’s mega low down (which she said is really good for 4th baby) and she said she could easily sweep it and felt her head. It was a rough sweep and I came home and had what I’m 99% sure was my bloody show. It wasn’t just blood - it was lots of bloody thick mucus. Was SO crampy and sore all day yesterday and today I’ve had nothing. Feel tired, sore, achey and having brown/pink discharge but nothing significant. I just want something to happen now 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm sure your baby will be here soon! xxx

Had a sweep before being induced, baby was there 7 hours later.

Hang in there, waiting will be over sooner then you think xxx

I totally don’t want to be a party pooper but I thought I’d better share my experience. When I was pregnant with my 4th I asked for a sweep at 37+ weeks because my SPD was so bad. My previous babies came at 40+5, 40+3 and 40+2 respectively. Like you my cervix was 2-3 and I lost my plug. However I didn’t go into spontaneous labour until 39+5! I think when you’ve had as many babies as us, your cervix is permanently slightly open and very soft!
I hope your story is different though. Good luck x

I had sweeps at 37+2 and 37+5. I was 3-4cm dilated and fully effaced at both sweeps. Had bloody show immediately after my first sweep, and more show a few days after second sweep. DC2 arrived after a spontaneous VBAC 18 days ago at 38+3, less than an hour after I arrived at hospital Grin

Good luck, how exciting for you! I already want to do it again Smile
