Hello,

I had brown spotting for a couple of hours at 4 weeks pregnant and then again at around 5.5 weeks. Had my scan yesterday (7 weeks) and saw babies heartbeat and progressing nicely (although measuring a couple days behind and it's ivf so I know dates for sure).

They say not to worry unless it's bright red. Brown is old blood which is good. I know it's not easy but try not panic too much

Thank you.
I am so worried

As pp I had it around it then and all turned out fine.
Very easy to worry but honestly it is so common.
Brown is old blood so it’s just working it’s way out of your body.
Red and filling a pad is when to get help.

Supernova18 · 22/05/2021 17:44

I have had this again. I am wondering if I go to A&E. I am petrified about a miscarriage

How far are you?
Can you ring EPU?
Is it getting heavier?

DizzySquirrel90 · 23/05/2021 12:06

OP, brown discharge is very common in early pregnancy. I had it from 5 weeks to about 9 weeks. I'm now 15+6.

Unless your in serious pain (not the period like cramps) I wouldn't worry.
