hello everyone, on sunday i started itching and the next morning when i woke up i was covered in rash. i phoned the nurse and she got me to come in and get it checked but she didn’t know what it was, she also got the doctor to come in and check it but she didn’t know either. they sent me home with some cream that was meant to soothe it but didn’t really help. it’s thursday now and the rash is still there on my stomach, chest, back and a little on my arms and thighs. i’m worrying since i’m almost 15 weeks pregnant and i’m just wondering if anyone could identify the rash or if anyone has had something similar? thank you x

Could it be PUPPP / PEP?

If so, get yourself some Grandpas Pine Tar Soap (Amazon). It stinks but really works to stop the itching.

Where is the rash? Any other symptoms? Seems irresponsible of them to me to dismiss you without an actual diagnosis

@stuckinarutatwork i’ve heard of PUPPP but what is PEP? i honestly have no idea what it could be, came so suddenly x

@Graphista the rash started on my stomach, spread to my chest, back and a little bit on my thighs and on my arms. i know i was really annoyed being dismissed without any explanation, it makes me more worried x

I think PEP is another name for PUPPP. Pretty sure it's the same thing (although I'm not a medic..)

I had it in my second pregnancy and the itching nearly drove me mad. The soap really helped.

Did they even consider other causes than pregnancy? Do you have other children or have contact with young children? Cos I'd be worried about childhood infections despite vaccination programmes they're still around and need to be considered carefully where pregnancy is concerned

I would not be happy they haven't identified a cause
