Bloods say negative but tests say positive?

Hi so me and my partner are trying to conceive. We have done 20+ pregnancy tests the last 4-5 days and all have come back positive with the line getting stronger. She had to go for bloods today and they came back saying negative!? How is this possible? Could the blood test be wrong??

Hmmmm strange. Why did she go for a blood test ? Are you in UK ? When was the first day of her last period ?

Thatchlucy · 21/05/2021 12:38

She went for a blood test just to check levels as she has struggled to conceive in the past but we do have 2 children. Yes in the uk, her period was due 2 days ago. But she was early last month so if we go by standard date then tomorrow is her period due date. Just so clear on the tests though....

Also they were first response 6 days early, plus clear blue 5 days early and frer tests all positive

Well fingers crossed it's always tricky testing ( and even blood testing it seems) before a missed period.

Sounds like if you wait another week you will be able to confirm for sure. 🤞 What did the place that did the blood test say? Was it your Gp?

It was a and e gynaecologist but they said our tests look negative with literally a clear line on all. Can see from a distance so my faith in them is low as I’m sure any line is a positive test if you follow instructions and time frames accurately

She went to A and E for blood tests and her period isn't even due yet?!?

MyHusbandTheIdiot · 21/05/2021 13:43

This may be a silly question, but I note that you mention ‘line’ singular... you/she know there have to be two lines for a positive, right?!

alahwvaha · 21/05/2021 13:49

Can you post a photo of the tests OP?

NoFashion · 21/05/2021 13:57

You know 1 line means negative?

And that A&E isn't for potential pregnancy blood tests?

hopingtobehappiness · 21/05/2021 14:07

Test again first wee on Sunday morning. I think it was too early tell. I'm sorry but It's to go to A&E it's not needed unless she was very unwell with something else. I know trying conceive is stressful, good luck.

Thatchlucy · 21/05/2021 14:08

Sorry should of been clearer, 2 clear lines on all tests! Can’t figure out how to post a picture. She did go early because she has had a nightmare with fertility all her life so panics a lot. Either she’s too early for bloods or it’s a chemical I guess...

Should probably say she miscarried 2 months ago also and she had light spotting so wanted to be checked which I can understand

I know it's really really hard and you want to know everything going on but I think try phone EPU or maternity ward if it persists as going to A&E right now unless in extreme pain and a lot of bleeding isn't the right thing to do.

Agree with other posters about going to A and E. Many many women find getting pregnant a difficult time emotionally and physically with miscarriages, fertility treatment and ectopics along the way. But it really is quite selfish to use A and E in this way because it is an emergency service and this really isn’t one. You can pay for private blood tests early if you feel the need to and that’s absolutely fine because it isn’t taking away resources from others who need them more. Good luck with this or any future pregnancies.
