Mucus Plug

Hi lovely people! I had my first sweep today as I am 40 weeks and was told my cervix is favourable and soft. Notes say I’m 2cm and she managed to touch babies head and sweep the membranes around relatively easily. Up until today, I’d had 0 signs of labour at all so was surprised she even had any success! I’m also a FTM so no clue what to expect.

Anyways, I’ve come home now, super bad back (was playing up before as I do get back problems) but now it’s pretty bad! Some slight cramping which she said was expected but I’ve also just lost my mucus plug (quite a large blob of it, snotty, jelly like and pink/brown stained). I had my sweep at 3:30. Did anyone go into labour after their first sweeps? Is losing my plug a good indication? Sorry for the silly questions, I’m just so new to all of this and impatient, haha!

Exciting! My waters broke after I lost my mucus plug but it was just a trickle and I was fobbed off, to be honest, on the phone to a midwife about it so I actually ended up giving birth a few days later. But I had no cramps following the mucus plug. Sore back and cramps sounds like this might be it though! Good luck!

@Bancha ahh, that’s so annoying that they fobbed you off! Fingers crossed this is the start for me, I’m just so anxious haha x

It feels a long time ago now, but if you notice anything that feels like a trickle then go get it checked and don’t take no for an answer! Grin

Oh, reading up on it now, maybe it’s actually a bloody show as it most definitely was pink/blood stained/browny looking. I thought a mucus plug was the same thing, my bad !
