Hi all,

Just a question for all you lovely ladies.

I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and I just bought some chicken nuggets from the Tesco hot counter. When I got round to eating them they were only slightly warm, not piping hot. I could just kick myself because I completely forgot to heat them to piping.

Now I'm down a rabbit hole of googling everything and am convinced that I've done something really stupid and put my baby in danger. Is this really bad??

It will be fine. They will have been cooked to, and held at, the appropriate temperature while in store so there will be no problem.

dementedpixie · 20/05/2021 15:36

You'll be fine

Peaplant20 · 20/05/2021 16:13

I think it’s extremely unlikely that could be an issue x

They have high standards for prepping foods on their hot counters. You'd be really unlucky to get ill from anything like that.

Seeline · 20/05/2021 16:17

I suppose it depends on how long it was until you 'got round' to eating them. Half an hour, you'll be fine. Five hours, just warm because they weren't in the fridge may be more of an issue....

eandz13 · 20/05/2021 16:19

Food can be left out safely for 2 hours after cooking/until it reaches room temp to pop in the fridge. You'll be fine Smile

OP don't stress yourself with all the food rules in pregnancy, the risks are minute. If you generally have good standards of hygiene you can carry on as normal and eat what you like. No need to cremate everything, eat your eggs rock hard or give up pate and cheese.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 20/05/2021 16:20

This wouldn't even have crossed my mind as a potential issue.

badatcrochet1996 · 20/05/2021 16:29

I wouldn't have even thought about it? Kind of sounds like you're very very anxious. There is no issue here.

Becky199327 · 20/05/2021 16:45

Thank you all, I am very very anxious. I had miscarriage in November so everything I do I sort of second guess myself :(

thank you for all your replies x
