Early pregnancy worries

Hi, I'm around 6 weeks pregnant, I've felt really 'off' - tired, nauseated, etc.
In total we did about 11 tests over a week because I just couldn't believe it, every one of them was a positive straight away! Even the evening wee's!

I'm just super anxious about the first scan. I'm scared that there'll be nothing there, or something wrong.

Never ever expected to naturally conceive and was actually awaiting appointments for fertility treatment! So this has taken us by surprise.

I'm overjoyed that it's happened (finally!) just super super anxious and scared.

Any tips on getting through the future weeks?

Also, every time I go to the toilet I expect blood, it's like there's this little voice in my head saying it's all too good to be true! I just can't wait to get to 12 weeks 😭

Congratulations @edgylemons !!

I'm in pretty much the exact same position as you. Had just started fertility investigations, awaiting for referral to gynecologist following scans etc and got my BFP last month. I'm now 7w4d.

I've been worrying loads as it's taken 5 years to get here. I had the tiniest bit of spotting yesterday (like tiniest ever) which has me panicking now and I worry about every little twinge.

I'm booked in for a private scan on Saturday. You could think of doing the same? Apparently miscarriage rates drop to 10% after a heartbeat is detected and you should be able to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks.

It definitely doesn't help reading stories here about people going for their 12 week scans only to be told their babies stopped growing at 6/7 weeks and they've had no symptoms at all.

The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that really there's nothing you can do to help right now at all. If it's going to be successful it will be but if it's not going to progress there's really nothing you can do to stop it.

Not meaning to worry you more - hopefully once past the 12 week mark things get easier!

Wow, exactly the same here! Just received the go-ahead to start IVF after a very, very long process... and then got a positive test somehow. Did tests for a week straight. Currently 7 weeks and convinced something has to be wrong despite so far (knock wood) being totally fine and healthy. Had a scan last week and saw heartbeat but still completely concerned about mmc or bad blood test results, or whatever else really...

Only thing we can do is stay calm and wait. But time has never gone so slowly I swear...

Hiya, ive been testing every day since AF didn't come this month and I've had faint lines, but today it definitely looks like a BFP and I worked out I'm around 3 weeks. Feel ok, no symptoms, just same every time I go to the toilet I wipe and check. Can't quite believe it, ( I'm 42, overweight, relatively fit though) but I don't know what to do next, when do I ring my Gp?!

I feel exactly the same! Found out this weekend and just feel like it's too good to be true. This is our second baby and I feel much more worried this time, Ive heard of soo many friends who have had early miscarriages and now I just feel like I can't be happy in case something goes wrong! It's such a long wait to 12 weeks isn't it 😔! I don't think there is an answer to not worrying just have to get through it xx

Hopefull26 · 17/05/2021 11:51

@CameraCoffeeCrochet congratulations! I would ring them as soon as you get a positive test! They will book your first appointment with the midwife, in my area its at 8 weeks! X

Congratulations! I think the worry is unavoidable after mc!

I had a mmc at 6+5 in April (loss around 5 weeks so really early). Now I'm 5 weeks pregnant again but I think headed for the same outcome. I had cramping so my bloods were taken and my hcg was low at just 74 (19dpo on Friday). EPU have said they won't take further bloods - I just need to wait. This past weekend I think I've actually run out of steam worrying and now if I end up with a baby it'll be a miracle/bonus.

Just thought I'd jump on this thread. I feel exactly the same, it's really not good. Some days are worse than others. This is an IVF pregnancy and was ttc for 18 months before that. First round of ivf and first transfer. Tbh I didn't believe it when I saw a positive on test day!! I think this is where the anxiety stemmed from. I think I had it in my head it will never happen. Now it has my mind just can't process it properly.
I had a private scan at 6weeks2days and everything looked fine even saw a heart beat. And then another scan at 7weeks 3 days with the fertility clinic on Friday and everything all good and they discharged me.
I just feel a bit lost. The scans reassure me for like a day or so. It doesn't help that I don't have any nausea really. I feel exhausted and sore boobs but that's it.
I'm considering booking another scan for a couple weeks time but can't keep booking scans it's such a lot of money and also I know it's not going to change the outcome!!

Hello :)

I've been trying for 5 years, had two early mc and was basically told it was very unlikely even with fertility treatment due to a myriad of issues!

Anyway, fell pregnant naturally and am now nearly 13 weeks, obviously it still may go wrong and I'm nervous every day, I also check each time I go to toilet and can't quite believe it despite seeing very reassuring scans!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, I think think anxiety is inevitable in some ways and all we can do is remind ourselves that right now we are pregnant

Thank you for commenting! That itself 'right now I'm pregnant' has made me so much happier, I'm going to keep telling myself that! ❤️

Hi ladies. I’m now 14 weeks and have only just started to relax…a little.

I completely echo what @ElmtreeMama says. You cannot control the outcome of your pregnancy. I had a previous mc, and a heavy bleed at 8 weeks - which resulted in me having a scan. At the start of this pregnancy I was sure I didn’t want an early scan. If I had that time again I probably would but not before 8 weeks. At 8 weeks you will see the heartbeat, and sizing will be a little more accurate. I’ve seen so many threads on here where people have gone at 6/7 weeks and it’s just added further stress. At my 8 weeks scan I was two days behind, at my 12 weeks scan I was 3 days further along. To pass time I would listen to podcasts and there’s a mindfulness app called Expectful which is good. Speak to your partners, tell them when you’re having a bad day. My biggest piece of advice would be to stay away from mumsnet/google and the constant scrolling through stories. They will send you loopy with fear.

  • symptoms. I tracked my symptoms each day and can tell you I have 7 episodes within my 12 weeks where I had bugger all. But after a few days even weeks they did return.
  • cramping. I wish someone had told me how normal they are, and actually how uncomfortable they are at times.

Rule of thumb. You only need to be concerned if there’s bleeding and cramping. Spotting = had it! Brown discharge = had it! Even a bleed as mentioned. With each passing week your chances improve :) sending you all lots of love and sorry for the huge post! I just know how awful early pregnancy is xxx
