Morning, I’m returning to work part time (WFH) from maternity leave next week my DS is 1 in three weeks.

I have my NHS scan the same week I return, on a day off thankfully. Obviously hoping and keeping fingers crossed that all goes well with the scan (have had MMC before), I’m unsure how to tell my manager. I’ll be off until after the weekend but am concerned somehow she’ll find out even though the people I plan to tell no longer work there. Should I email or just wait?

Pregnancy was planned it just happened very quickly, so unsure how to approach that I could be going off on maternity again by the end of the year. Anyone been in a similar position?

You are not obligated to tell management until you get to 25 weeks.

Although you should so they can do a risk assessment/reasonable adjustments/you get paid time off for scans/pregnancy protection/(depending on your manager!) a bit of understanding if you have pregnancy related sickness x

I work in HR - it’s more common than you think! Congratulations on your pregnancy 😊

I am facing a similar issue, dating scan just after 21st June. All my colleagues are going to be perplexed that I am the only one not coming back into the office that day, but obv I don't want to tell them why until after the scan......

Not sure yet what I am going to do/say.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz thank you I did think to wait but I’m not keen on trying to hide things!

@Littlegoth thank you 😊 yeah I agree it was much easier then knowing for appointments etc! I’m sure they expect me to go off again as we’ve said we would love more than one but probably not this soon!

@AnonymousXXIX congrats! It’s such a difficult situation isn’t it, we’re happy and hopeful to be having another baby 🤞🏻 But I have no idea how to tell my manager as I can only picture her face thinking oh wow we’re gonna need cover again!

I know she’d rather a zoom call than an email but it would be so much easier over email haha.

I'm planning the same, am due in July with my mat leave ending in January. Fingers crossed I go back to work pregnant as want to have one more before closing shop.

@feistymumma I’m glad we’re not the only ones! We know everyone will say oh a close age gap that’ll be hard work, we know 😂

I’m just unsure how to tell my manager as saying it’s planned makes it sound bad knowing I didn’t want to be back at work for long and just the hassle of more cover!
