Hi mumsnet,

I’m 16 weeks on Thursday and don’t think I have a bump at all maybe just a bloat or little cookie lodge (first pregnancy) I’m 5’7 and a size 8-10 normally, having gained 3lbs so far.

When did you get your bump?? X

Hi @Tilly18101 firstly congratulations on your pregnancy ☺️. I'm 16 weeks today and this is also my first. I don't have a bump when Im standing or sitting down, but when I lay flat I can feel a hard bump where my uterus has doubled in size. Especially when my bladder is full, it's even more noticeable. With this being our first, I think it could be a while until we have a definite bump ☺️ xx

About 28-30 weeks with dc1 and 2, am 16 weeks now with dc3 and nowhere near having a bump this time either.

Tilly18101 · 16/05/2021 22:12

@lockdownbabyx congratulations too! I think you might be right! I definitely feel a bit ‘thicker’ but no bump - thought I might have a little one by now but nope just a pouch for my cookies 😂

@Garman wow super late getting your bump, that must have been great for not needing extra size clothes for a while!

Same height and clothes size as you, and with first baby it was about 28 weeks like PP. Didn't go into mat clothing at all actually. Very cost effective! Baby 2 onwards was a different story Grin Shock

lockdownbabyx · 16/05/2021 22:17

@Tilly18101 haha we should just enjoy it while it lasts I think 😂. I haven't even put on any weight yet, although I did lose 5lb in the early weeks and I've since put that back on, but nothing additional as of yet! Hopefully we can get away with wearing our normal clothes for a little longer 😁 x

I'm 6'3 and was a size 12 when I was pregnant. Didn't really have a noticable bump until I was nearer 25 weeks. Up until then, I just looked like I'd eaten a bit too much.

Watermelonsugar21 · 16/05/2021 22:37

I’m 17 weeks with my first baby and 4 people have commented this week the likes of ‘Ooo look you’re getting quite a bump!’ I have begun transitioning into maternity clothes already, as any of my usual fitted outfits are becoming too tight.

I think this is quite early to show for a first, so I hope it doesn’t mean it’s going to be a huge baby!!! Confused

Chelyanne · 16/05/2021 22:45

It will come eventually so don't worry about it.

I'm 5ft 8, on baby number 6. My last term pregnancy was twins which left me with diastasis recti but repaired with lifting in the gym, I felt my abs "pop" at 15wk and started to get comments that I was showing after that. I still thought I looked more podgey than pregnant until after 20wk though. Had a very defined bump by 24wk and it's been growing super fast since then, now 26+5. I do have a history of big babies so expect this one will also be on the larger side.

shivawn · 17/05/2021 14:25

I started to show around week 16, just a tiny little bump, not really visible when I'm fully dressed but I can't zip up most of my size 8 jeans anymore.....well I can but its a really tight squeeze and they give the ugliest muffin top ever. I'm 19 weeks now and don't think I've changed since that little growth spurt at week 16.

notalwaysalondoner · 17/05/2021 14:39

It makes a big difference your body shape and ab fitness, as well as if you have a tilted uterus. I'm 30 weeks with my first, size 8-10 prepregnancy, very fit, and had no bump at all until maybe 20 weeks, at 20 weeks I could tell I had a bump but no one else could with clothes on, even at 24 weeks I could very easily have hidden it. Then it suddenly 'popped' and by about 27 weeks I was very obviously pregnant. Very normal to not show at 16 weeks - the first sign for me was not being able to fully see my pubic area when I looked down!

mamaatthegym · 17/05/2021 16:26

I’m 5’5” and was a size 10 with first pregnancy - didn’t show until 24 weeks.

Now a size 12 with second pregnancy, 11 weeks and not showing at all yet.

One day you just get huge then by the end it feels like you’ve had a bump for ages!! Haha

LondonLady178 · 18/05/2021 09:47

I'm glad everyone else is having the same worry! I'm 16+2 and have a small little bump but it only appears in the evening after a full day of eating!

My OH keeps telling me you'll be saying how big it is soon so enjoying whilst its small!

Moorelewis · 18/05/2021 09:52

30 weeks with both. I'm 5 foot 2 and a size 10 so expected to show earlier. Definitely doesn't always work like that!

Fluffyslippers123 · 18/05/2021 10:26

19 weeks, 5'4, size 16-18 and pregnant with twins. Still just a little bloating rather than a bump. I'm in all of my normal clothes and nobody can really tell yet. I was bigger at the same point with my single DC 3 years ago than I am now! I do have a retroverted uterus though. Even at 8 months with my son a lot of people didn't really realise I was pregnant if I was wearing anything loose-fitting

Ftumch · 19/05/2021 11:27

I'm 16+5 and don't have a bump yet, just a little thicker round the middle! I haven't gained any weight yet either despite going up a cup size already. With my first I had a little bump around 14 weeks - so this feels very weird!

georgarina · 19/05/2021 13:16

This is my second and I only really started getting a bump around 25 weeks
