Worrying early scan. Measuring behind

I had a early scan that has left me feeling very anxious. Going off my last period I am 7 weeks today. However at my scan the lady said she could see a sack, yolk and very small baby with no visible heartbeat. She told me my dates must be wrong and I’m measuring 5 weeks. This was a shock. Since coming home my paperwork actually says 3.3mm =

Do you know when you ovulated or are your periods sometimes longer than 28 days as that can explain it

Flowers Essentially the paperwork says exactly what you’ve put in your post- there’s 1 baby in the uterus but viability can’t be confirmed yet as no heartbeat was seen and baby is too small to move to confirm survival. You’ll need to be scanned again to see if there’s any growth as it’s highly possible your dates are wrong. This is nothing to worry about but this is why early scans are really not recommended as they cause unnecessary worry. When I had my first, my dates were out by somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks. It’s extremely common but it’s a waiting game now unfortunately Flowers

I was so certain on our dates as this pregnancy was more a spontaneous idea and we only dtd on two days cd 13 & 14.
My cycles used to be bang on 28 but since stopping the pill 1 year ago they've been varying about 28-32. More recently being 28. The only thing giving me hoping is maybe I had a longer cycle. But I don't understand how it might affect it by 2 weeks 🥺 I had a implantation bleed cd 26 before getting a positive test on cd 28. My test have all progressed really well and really strong so this came as a shock.

My last period was 28th March and I got a positive test 25th April.

I knew the date we conceived my daughter, but she dated differently and they wouldn't change her due date based on my dates so it's all a bit of a mystery to me.

Accidentallydeletedoopsss · 16/05/2021 19:12

@GLTM me too! They have to follow what the scan says regardless which is frustrating but just one of those things

How many days/weeks did they alter your date?

It says online from your CRL you are 5 weeks and 4 days.

Whilst you know when you DTD remember sperm can live a few days so you may not have implanted until later in your cycle 😄

I went for an early scan and was supposed to be 6 weeks 2 days and they said definitely at least 10-11 days behind this... went for my dating scan and they put my 4 days behind. She's now measuring 2 weeks ahead at 27 weeks!

I think early scans are notorious for being out on dates! They were a week out with mine anyway.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and keep us updated! Xxx

This brings me so much reassurance that you experienced crazy dates! The sperm thing I keep having to remind myself of it keeps slipping my mind. I've no clue on ovulation but I'm 99% sure I implanted on 22nd April as I had a small bleed which I presumed to be period so popped a tampon in but never saw anything else after so took a test 25th April which was positive. So I suppose they'd classed as late implantation? Sounds silly but I didn't think late implantation affected anything but now thinking about it of course it would!

Quite possibly! My son they put me 2 weeks behind on my dating scan and he's now a lovely 8 year old! Did they take bloods for you?

When I first went for my scan with this baby they couldn't see anything and was ?ectopic! So I was terrified and the week later luckily saw something!

I'm glad it's brought you reassurance 🥰🥰 xxx
