I'm pretty early at only 5 weeks with my 1st. Now, I'm not naive, but I didn't expect such extreme and constant heartburn & sickness this early on.
Any home remedies anyone swears by?
Gaviscon just ain't cutting it Sad

Heartburn is not fun. I would recommend Rennies and sitting up after eating, and only eating small amounts - nothing spicy or aggravating. Vanilla ice cream helped me as well - even just a spoon after eating something was helpful.

Poor you. I was so lucky in that I never had heartburn in any of my three pregnancies, but the sickness just completely floored me. With DC3 I felt sick practically from the moment of conception, it was horrible. See your GP if Gaviscon isn't helping, and eat little and often.

Gaviscon double action liquid in the pink bottle is the only thing i found works, any tablets like rennies etc, cheaper versions of liquid relief didnt touch the side honestly. After spending hundreds on gaviscon this pregnancy, its so exspensive, I rang doctor and the prescribed Omeprezole. Honestly its been a life safe, barely had to use the gaviscon since and im sorry I didnt ring the doctor sooner.

Another vote for Omeprazole here! Anything else is just a waste of time and money in
in my opinion.
In my first pregnancy I tried not to take anything but gaviscon and it very quickly got very badly on top of me with a raw and angry stomach and doubled over in pain. This time round I wasted no time and got it from 4/5 weeks and it has been a godsend. Good luck and congratulations on the pregnancy too!!

You may need a prescription of omeprazole from your GP. It was a total life saver for me.

Thank you so much, everyone - I'd even resorted yo sleeping sitting upright Hmm
Rennies etc won't touch it so I'll try Gaviscon for now & hope my GP can help come Monday. Struggling to keep food & fluid down.
Appreciate the input! X

Sorry to hear that, @Mabelhc! My symptoms also started relatively early (about week 5) so I share your pain. The nausea in particular was debilitating! What helped the most were acupressure bands. It took me from 5x vomiting in one morning to just one round of it for the whole day the very next day. The nausea doesn't go away completely but it does make it far, far more manageable. Now, I'm at 13w and just wear it 24/7 except when I'm showering.

They're really cheap online and are an absolute lifesaver! Hope it helps x
