Hi all,

Has anyone got experience of this and can reassure me please? I’m 8.5 weeks pregnant and thoroughly miserable.

My first bleed at 6 weeks was a small amount of brown blood lasting a week and a subsequent scan showed a baby with a hb and a small area of implantation bleeding,

My second bleed at 7 weeks was a large amount of fresh blood with clots. This has so far lasted a week and a half. A scan at 7.5 weeks showed a baby with a hb and no internal bleeding. An internal exam showed my cervix is bleeding and that the baby is in no danger. I was told that this may be due to increased hormones at this stage and this makes the cervical cells more sensitive.

I also have abdominal cramping requiring paracetamol as pain relief. This has been ongoing since 4 weeks. I’m told I have some cysts that is causing this.

I have virtually no other pregnancy symptoms except bleeding and cramping which are of course also the symptoms of miscarriage. I am now ridiculously anxious and trying to even avoid going to the toilet as the clots make me distressed. Sometimes I wonder if I am even still pregnant. I have booked a scan for 2 weeks time to give me something to focus on.

Is anyone else experiencing to this, or has experienced it in previous pregnancies? Is it actually normal? Does it get better? I usually have awful periods and was looking forward to 9 months without any...little did I know it was going to be one long period!

Thank you...

I had a bleed at 4/5 weeks (actually thought it was a period) and at 7 weeks then a little more at 8 weeks: after that it settled down and the rest of my pregnancy was straight forward and baby was fine. No one really knows why it happened.
I hope it all settles down for you. It was so anxiety provoking and I felt like that about going to the toilet
