Potential prolapse - 26 weeks pregnant. Really worried.

I'm 26 weeks with my second and am worried that I have a prolapse. I sometimes have a feeling of heaviness or protrusion from my vagina but more worryingly it just doesn't look right.

I'm now worried that what is just inside the vagina might actually be my cervix and it's worse than I thought and a uterine prolapse.

Does anyone have any experience of this? What symptoms did you have? Does it sound like it might be? What impact did it have on childbirth and future pregnancies?

Thank you so much.

That sounds more extreme than what I have but I was listening to the good motherhood podcast and heard one of them saying they’d went to the doctors while pregnant because their vagina looked so swollen. She begged someone to take a look at it. When the nurse looked she said it was perfectly normal and it was caused by pressure and an increase in blood flow to the area. I don’t very often see down there now but I have majorly noticed mine being swollen and it’s definitely due to all the extra blood in that region

@sarah13xx thank you so much for your reply. That's very reassuring. I'm just so baffled by what's going on down there and have to wait until Monday to see the doctor

I'm 26 weeks and incredibly sore and swollen, I didn't think of a prolapse but I did think baby was too low or something was wrong. My midwife checked and said it's normal believe it or not.

My first was 10lb 1 and I never felt like this then, it must just be position of the baby etc. I don't know really.

Have you been checked out?

@ahashakeheartbreak12 thank you! I couldn't get a GP appointment til next week. What you say is very reassuring though - thanks.

@Heepers I’m sure it will just be a weird pregnancy symptom and nothing to worry about. I’m 28 weeks and mine has been very swollen for quite a few weeks. I only ever notice it when I’m trying to shave and I can’t see what I’m doing anyway 🙈 but it feels huge compared to the way it used to be!

I’m the same as @AhaShakeHeartbreak12 - swollen vulva and very sore around the wholesale pelvic area with a really uncomfortable sense of heaviness. Also the feeling things have moved around in a weird way eg urinating and bowel movements are harder.

Asked my pelvic floor physiotherapist about it. Apparently these are all totally normal pregnancy symptoms!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.
