Hello ladies I'd hope you could help me please because I can't quite get my head around what has happened. My LMP was the 21st March, my cycles can range anywhere between 27-33 days. Me and partner had sex on 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th April. I got a positive ovulation test on the 3rd. The absolute latest I could have ovulated would have been the 7th April because I got my first positive pregnancy test on 13th April. I went for an early scan due to doctor been concerned about ectopic. Scan showed baby was in the right place but no fetal pole or heartbeat, just a gestational sac and yolk sac, I should have been 6 weeks at the time but was measuring less than 5. I went for another scan on Sunday which showed a gestational sac but nothing inside (so the yolk sac disappeared?) she said I was measuring 4 weeks 5 days which would make me 5 weeks and 3 days today. I have another scan tomorrow and I am terrified as I know it will be bad news, even if I ovulated late I would surely be at least 7 weeks by now? :(

I don't know if this helps at all, but when I had a scan a few weeks back, the midwife was explaining to someone else how they'd work it out before 12 weeks if she didn't know dates...

They said that they'd predict 6 weeks from the first positive pregnancy test + 2 weeks. The private scan clinics near me seem to do the same thing, so to book an early scan today, you have to confirm that you had a positive test on the 1st May or before.

I don't know how accurate that is, but I didn't want to leave this unanswered. Absolute best of luck to you for tomorrow... I had no heartbeat visible at 6w exactly, but the baby was in the right place and both the gestational and yolk sacs were visible. I went back at 7+5 after the longest two weeks ever, and the heartbeat was there.

All the best Flowers

@Annamiller12 I'm afraid I have and I'm sorry to say that it was not good news. I hope it isn't the same for you.

My last period started on 17th March and I was booked for an early scan last Saturday, when I should have been 7+3. They found a live foetus but it was measuring no more than 6 weeks. I started with some light bleeding on Sunday and had miscarriage confirmed yesterday at the EPU. Yesterday, when they rescanned they could still see the foetus but it was now measuring 5 weeks so had, in effect, shrunk.

Having said all that, when I asked for advice on here following last Saturday's scan, lots of women had positive stories to tell and also pointed out that at this early stage, even a millimetre can make a big difference with dates. I have everything crossed for you!

Hi @Annamiller12 so sorry to see on your other post (which I now can't find) that there are concerns about the heartbeat now. That's exactly what happened to me too. Sending loads and loads of positive vibes that you get a better outcome.
