Hi we have a name picked out for baby girl on the way, Maisie June ... just was curious on what people’s opinions were.

Thank you!

It's cute! I like it - I assume June is the middle name? Not so sure if it's all first name

lemonsyellow · 12/05/2021 20:35

Sorry, no, I don’t like Maisie. It’s too cutesy. June is fine, though.

WWillow0909 · 12/05/2021 20:39

Yes June is the middle!

I love it

WWillow0909 · 12/05/2021 21:09

Aw so sweet!

Agree with PP that Maisie is twee. Not keen.

I think June is very cool though.

Cornishandproudofit · 12/05/2021 21:11

Not keen on Maisie at all but weirdly, as a whole, I love Maisie June!

EssentialHummus · 12/05/2021 21:17

There’s a bit of a “twee M names” micro trend round my way - Maisie, Marnie, Martha... Not sure.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 12/05/2021 21:22

It's lovely ☺️

LittleTiger007 · 12/05/2021 22:25

I think it’s lovely 🙂

FeistySheep · 13/05/2021 09:30

Maisie is lovely for a baby/child, but is it a bit 'un-serious' for an adult? Maisie the prime minister? Maisie the neurosurgeon?
How about a longer name which you can shorten to Maisie? If you don't like Margaret (which is what it's actually short for) then I guess pretty much anything that starts with Ma- would work?

FeistySheep · 13/05/2021 09:31

Although actually I guess Maisie could start using her middle name (also lovely!) if she feels Maisie is not serious enough. Would you be happy if she started calling herself June?

Moorelewis · 13/05/2021 09:33

I think its lovely. I also think you should pick whatever you like and not worry about others opinions! I think people could find fault with any name. X

Girlmama3 · 13/05/2021 09:41

I have a Maisie who was born in June!! It depends on your daughter if it will be a strong name. My Maisie isn’t girly at all and it is still suits her. It could always be shorted to May x

partyatthepalace · 13/05/2021 09:43

It’s cute but I think Maisie is too twee for a full name. It also doesn’t give her any options. I think anything starting Ma eg Marianne, Marina would work as a full name. Traditionally it’s a nn for Mary or Margaret.

ExcitingTimes2021 · 13/05/2021 11:26

I like it. Wanted to call my little girl June as a first name but OH said no. So I’m hoping he lets me have it as a middle name x

2weekstogo · 13/05/2021 11:36

I love it 💖 good choice

annlee3817 · 13/05/2021 12:09

If you like it then that's all that matters :) and who's to say someone can't become prime minister or a neurosurgeon because of their name.... A name shouldn't define a person

WWillow0909 · 13/05/2021 15:21

Thank you everyone! Appreciate the feedback! :)

Same here.

I know someone with a Maisie Kate and I like that too.

I think of Maisie as being really twee and cutesy, but with the right middle name it's actually quite nice.

georgarina · 13/05/2021 18:04

Maisie is a sweet name - I like it, and I'm not of the opinion that names dictate our futures, so you have to have a 'serious' name to do a serious job. I was almost called Maisie. x

Babyjune21 · 13/05/2021 18:27

We are having a baby girl in June I liked Maisie but my husband said no , he pointed out that it’s a little girls name not really a grown woman’s name , so it’s no longer in the running

Iris2020 · 13/05/2021 22:05

I really don't get the argument that it's not an adult's name - of course it is. Maisie [surname] would sound perfectly fine as a neurosurgeon or prime minister, or astronaut or hairdresser or teacher. It's a lovely, lively, good-natured name. It's such a bizarre (and inaccurate) idea that only dry, humourless names befit women in positions of responsibility.

Maisie June is a lovely combination.

Babyjune21 · 14/05/2021 09:25

@Iris2020 there is no argument she asked for peoples thoughts on the name and that’s what she got

WWillow0909 · 14/05/2021 14:27

Thank you everyone! Blush I understand some people may not love it and that’s okay! It has meaning to me as well for my grandmother so we are pretty set! there are a lot of cutesy names as firsts like Kelsie ends the same way and sounds similar to Maisie and there are many adult Kelsies that I know! I don’t think a name defines what job you can hold, actually I think Maisie ages very well since it is actually an older vintage name! It started out as a nickname for Margaret so there were many older ladies with the name Maisie ... however now it is a name on its own!

I do appreciate the feedback it was nice to just see what people thought! We can’t wait to meet her Wink
